I apologize if this has been asked recently...I tried to do a search on "favorite bottle" but both words are too common here.
I've placed my orders for actives and getting ready to get down to business; gonna make some stuff! Main actives are L-ascorbic acid for serum, some DMAE and Matrixyl 3000. I'm going to place an order with Specialty Bottle and I'd like to know what's everyones favorite type of dispenser bottle for serums, for lotions, etc. The variety is such that I've got my choice of 1/2 oz up to 2 (or is it 4?) ounce size, cap choices of dropper (the kind that looks like a baby-bottle nipple on the cap), cap with a flip-disc, atomizer, pump....plastic or glass...amber, blue or green.
The prices are cheap enough to get several, but I just spent more than I had planned on the actives and I don't want to go overboard buying bottles that end up being inappropriate for my uses. So.....Who's first??
Also...I've only seen instructions for DIY for amber or blue bottles to keep light out. Is there any reason why a green bottle would not work? I would like to use green as well, just for color coding (and variety) purposes.
Thanks Y'all! |

Wow LOL
This depends, Glass is preferable for a lot of things, the reason I choose Amber is for whatever reason the blue and green are priced higher at many sites. Green will work just as well as amber or blue. The dropper style makes dispensing small amounts easier.
My next and really favorite choice are the airless pump bottles as keeping oxygen out helps prevent oxidation of your actives, many are translucent (that I have found) but that can be overcome by wrapping a label around the cylinder. The biggest con is they are pricey.

I should have noted I use them for serums and oil and essential oil blends, I save the airless pumps for serums only. |

I like oral syringes sold for dispensing baby medication. It keeps the air out and they are cheap.
I used to be able to get them with the little caps at Walmart but they don't have those anymore. You could try a Veterinarian or Pet Supply store as well. |

I ordered a bunch from Specialty Bottle yesterday, and will probably arrive middle of next week. And wouldn't ya know it, ALL of my actives arrived today. I'm gonna have to go dump a bottle of something to mix me up a small amount of C. |
