I finally got my Cacao Nibs! I wanted these because Cacao is one of the strongest antioxidants you can get. Cacao Nibs come from the inside of the Cacao bean. So it's like raw chocolate. I actually really like them. I think they taste like an 80% Cacao bar I once had.

I thought Cacao was the strongest antioxidant. According to the ORAC cloves are in the number one spot. There is a nut recipe I love that contains cloves. It also contains cinnamon which is in the 3rd spot on the ORAC.

Where did you get yours? I think my chia seed supplier carries them too....I may get some next time I order.

Editing to add: Yep they do...plain organic nibs, or dark chocolate coated nibs. Shock

I buy them at my grocery store (the dark chocolate covered ones). They are ok, but I think I prefer the plain dark chocolate to the cocoa nibs.

Oh yeah sorry I forgot to add that. I got this from South Beach Diet.

http://www.southbeachdiet.com/sbd/publicsite/recipes/Spicy-Nut-Mix.aspx

It calls for edamame but I just add cashews instead.

I mix cacao nibs with dried goji berries, dried golden berries, dried mulberries, dried blue berries and mixed nuts. I use Navitas Naturals Cacao Power, Raw Chocolate Nibs http://www.iherb.com/Navitas-Naturals-Cacao-Power-Raw-Chocolate-Nibs-16-oz-454-g/8257?at=0 from iherb.

About 9 months ago when I first tried it I did not know how much caffeine the cacao nibs has. 3 days in a row I could not sleep at all. I did not know why until my husband asked me if I eat anything new for last few days. And then I realized it must be the cacao nibs. So, be careful, don’t go crazy when you first started.

Oh wow.....Thanks for the tip about caffeine in cocoa nibs, who woulda thought?

I LOVE THEM! I do a lot of dehydrated power bars and they are so good in them. I used to use recipes but now I just throw stuff in the food processor and taste it to make sure it's good then spread out and dehydrate.

I also use stuff like mesquite powder, sprouts, carob powder, ground up nuts and seeds, stevia, canned organic pumpkin, shredded coconut, lots of spices like organic cinnamon and ginger. sometimes I just rummage around and throw in whatever......After dehydrated keep in freezer, so unbelievably good with almond butter on top for a pick me up snack with some herbal tea.

nsachs-- OK off topic again, but I started using cashews, almonds, and oats to make flour, they make TO DIE FOR power bars that taste like cookie dough.

To make nut flour just grind and sift, you have to do it in stages because if you process them too much you get butter (grind, sift, grind, sift).

LOL I make almond butter in my old vita-mix and my daughter devours it, I hardly get a taste and it's all gone. I will have to try your power bars but I bet she'll scarf those down too. Smile

That's great your daughter is loving such good food..........!!!

Here's a link to some raw cookie recipes I've gathered, you can tweak them and they are always good:

https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B1g1BshAb5XkYTMzYWM1YmEtODI1Zi00ODVkLWE2ZDAtMWVjYzI4MDRlOWEy&hl=en

They are mostly desert bars. I have others that are more energy bars too. Oh yeah on the chocolate chip recipe on the link, I used a different one from Nourishing Traditions too.

Thanks Secretly the links look great! Smile

All 4 of my kids have great eating habits, they grew up on all the healthy goodies, other moms would stop and ask how on earth did you get a 14 month old to eat salad. That's just what they knew and actually craved! LOL

Hi,
I know this company that has Canada only shipping though.
But they have 3 kinds of cacao nibs.

they are $42 a kg and shipping is $5 extra.
service is pretty quick too and orders I get in 4 days:)

I think I order too many cookies from chocodirect,

http://chocodirect.com/site_en/shop.php?ry=5&sry=111

they have beans from Ghana, Indonesia, Madagascar.
no idea what the difference is though.

True that Cacao Nibs are high in antioxidant. 80% of it is compose of antioxidants which are good for the skin and believe a good anti-aging components. But a few months ago our family doctor suggests to a resveratrol, compose of 98% pure antioxidant. He refer to me pureandhealthy(at)com and I feel no regret about it. Coz I don’t need to worry if I didn’t eat those fruits and veggies high in antioxidant.

I just bought some cookies that were caca nib instead of the chocolate chips you get in North America.

They were very tasty!

so maybe an idea is make cookies and use the cacao nibs instead of chips?
the nibs in my cookies were kind of crushed to be smaller bits.

The whole box is gone now Embarassed
