I can't seem to find any guidelines out there on what percentage of your product can be actives. I'm sure it also depends on whether the active you are adding is powder, liquid or oil.

I guess in a water based or oil serum you would be able to have a pretty high percentage of actives??
Adding actives to a pre-fabricated base I imagine you can't add to much especially in powder form. Is there any kind of rule of thumb out there? 15% to a pre-made base? more less?? help!

Thanks!

The only rules that I find are what percentage of each individual active that has the range of low to high. You need to think how much total water, oil you have and how many actives can be dissolved successfully and still have a usable product, they can only "hold" so much before they won't spread ect.

Yeah thats what I was hoping to find was a general guidline as to the average amount that can be added before the texture of the product gets ruined. I guess I'll just have to play.

You could look at some DIY sites that have free recipes and add up the percentages of actives that should give you a pretty good idea of the average total percentage you can use? Smile
