I purchased this mask (CA$38 for 50ml on EDS) as I was looking for something to use after my Epidermx microdermabrasion treatments.
I chose this specifically as the description on EDS read [A calming cream mask that instantly calms irritated skind extract. It strengthens the skin's resistance, protects against envoronmental aggresors. Does not contain any fragrances, colorants or parabens.]
Magic words for afer a microderm treatment!
This mask is perfect for anyone who is so sensitive to fragrance that even essential oils are too rich - when they say does not contain any fragrance, the really do mean does not contain any fragrance. Actually, it is a bit stinky because there is nothing to mask the sometimes unpleasant odor of the ingredients.
I must say that a couple of the ingredients listed on the box surprized me in a product that is for hyper sensitve skin (butylene glycol, isopropyl myristrate and alcohol notably). Here is a full list of ingredients:
water, sesame seed oil, ceterayl ethylhexanoate, butylene glycol, shea butter, macadamia seed oil, polyglyceryl-3, methylglucose distearate, glycerin, glyceryl stearate, octyldodecanol, ceteryl alcohol, rapeseed, sterols, trocopheryl acetate, calendula officinals flower extract, bisabolol, panthenol, allatoin, echium plantagineum seed oil, cardiospermum halicacabum extract, sunflower seed oil unsaponifiables, tocopherol, ascorbyl palmitate, ascorbic acid, citric acid, caprylic triglyceride, isppropyl mystristate, sodium cetearyl sulfate, dimethicone, carbomer, disodium EDTA, pantolactone, sodium hydroxide, alcohol, phenoxyethanol, potassium sorbate.
Phew, what a mouthful. sorry if I mistyped anything but the print on the box is minute and it is late here.
According to the box this mask "instantly soothes redness and irritations". I find that it certainly does soothe my skin, but if left on any longer than the 10 minutes recommended my skin feels a bit like it is burning. However after removal there is no redness.
I think this is a good mask for those who hate fragrance, color and parabens (if you are OK with the other ingredients). The main thing that puts me off a repurchase is the smell of it. I may not like highly fragranced stuff, but I have a new appreciation for SOME form of fragrance in products.
(let me just clarify stinky... it is not like while you have the mask on it is "eeew", but when applying it if you take a good whiff there is a bit of an "eww" factor. The Babor sensitive moisturizer is the same. Anyone who has smelled non-perfumed glycerine cream at the pharmacy - well, it is a bit like that) |

I would like to try this mask too. I don't like mask with fragrance which can irritate my skin.
Next month, I would buy this mask for myself as a reward!!! |

The mask seems fine to me. Not sensitive to my skin. But I have just used it. I'll use more times to see its effect. |
