I'm getting sick & tired of this. It's so~ gross too. It also settles into the pores which makes it look bad. I tried powder primer and gel primer. I moisturized first and also without, but still the same! I don't know if it's just me or what.
Something to note, my nose doesn't get as oily if I don't have any foundation on it so yeah... |

I would definitely try a different foundation if your nose is less oily w/o your current one.
Also I'd try an oil control type of powder, MAC Blot and Maybelline Dream Matte are good. |

I've always had "nose" issues too, Stardustdy. It took me 49 years and this forum to find a combination that works for me. I tried numerous primers which didn't help - my nose still got oily and the makeup sunk into my pores and/or disappeared. I now make a DIY pearl powder cream that has worked wonders under the Liquid Firming Minerals foundation I purchase from NCN Skincare. I still have to be careful when I'm testing serums under the pearl cream. Most don't work very well and I end up blotting my nose a lot during the day. Usually, I apply the serum everywhere but my nose. I really believe it's a matter of finding the right combination of foundation and primer - what works for me probably wouldn't work for anyone else. |

I don't know if she still makes it, but at one point Trish McEvoy had a primer that had clay in it so it really absorbed excess oil. You may check to see if it's still available. |

I use less than half a pea size of Dermablend Smooth Indulgence foundation in a shade a tad lighter than normal on my nose area (also covers some broken capillary issues). Let it dry, then apply my regular foundation, including over the nose area. I have found this to work better than any primer.
If you'd rather use a primer, have you tried the MAC Prep + Prime SPF 50 - that is great for helping makeup last and control oil - has to be the SPF version! |

I found the best way for me to keep the makeup on longer is to apply a mix of silica and pearl powder. Apply that first, then my foundation. And if necessary, after foundation, apply the mixed silica and pearl powder afterwards. It's only good for my nose as I found it's too dry if I do it on my entire face. But still, the makeup on nose comes off like after a few hrs
I guess most primer or base out there contains a high content of silicone to clog your pores. |

I always have anoilier nose w makeup.
Just tried the "drying powder' from mario badescu.
if your skin is normal it might be too drying.
I only use it 2x a week.
But I recently saw some smart mineral companies are staring to charge an arm and a leg,lol for "mattifying' powder made from rice and corn starch and sometimes clay.
I think I am just going to go to the grocery store and buy some rice starch and dust that with a small fan brush on my nose ifI wear heavier makeup.
I find it is the products with silicone that makeme look greassy.
I know there used to be Cornsilk powder before made from corn starch and clay and tinted so it looks more netural.
That used to work well too! |
