Hi
I'm in a bit of a panic this morning. I used Relax-A-Line under my eyes last night and woke up to two lines under each eye that had never been there before.
Has anyone had this? I am very worried about this.
Thanks

When I first got my relaxaline I also put it under my eyes and they looked terrible in the morning they were puffy and sagging with lines. It took a couple days and it was back to normal Now I make sure it doesnt go near my eyes!!! |

I only put my Relax on my crow's feet, not under my eyes. I thought it was just for lines where the muscle movement makes the lines. Guapagirl, don't you use it everywhere? How's it worked for you? Anyhow, I think the culprit is hyaluronic acid. It's a humectant so it can hold about 1000 times it's weight in water. But if you don't top it with moisturizer or live in a humid environment, humectants will pull moisture from the top layers of your skin deeper into the lower layers. So, I'd recommend topping it off with moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid is slathered on to skin after lasering/peels because it creates such a pro-new cell growth atmosphere - but it is topped off with an occlusive barrier (polysporin, vaseline, aquaphor, etc) when used this way. |

I'm afraid I can't agree with you about the hyaluronic acid being the culprit. The Esthers Secret serum has hyaluronic acid and it can be used all over the face, including the eye area. Several people on the forum use ES and I've never heard anyone say that it caused lines, but maybe some of them can comment.

Judy,I bet your Esther's Secret has other moisturizers in it, too. The Relax-A-Line does not. When pure Hyaluronic Acid is used, it must pull in moisture from somewhere. It is one of the most powerful humectants there are. If it is not from the air or an external source like a barrier moisturizer, it will pull moisture from skin cells around it. Sounds not so good, eh? But what is great about it is that Ha can work as a wonderful moisture booster. It can pull your moisturizer deep, deep into your skin, instead of just letting it sit on top.
That's my (limited) understanding of how it works. Personally, I have never had any problems with Relax-a-Line drying my skin at all. But I always use it with other products, including sunscreen and moisturizer.
Btw, I didn't know you were the founder of the the Esther's Secret line. That's really neat! Did you come up with the formula yourself? |

Better....
You are correct. The ES serum does have other moisturizers and anti-aging ingredients. I actually started to say that it could be that the other ingredients kept the hyaluronic acid from causing that as I know that separate ingredients can often work better synergystically than independently.
The Co-Founder refers to being a co-founder of the company that markets the Esthers Secret, but I was trying not to type so many words.
My best friend was responsible for bringing it to the company. She is also an original co-founder of the same company. She has friends in Dallas who own a skincare line and their chemist came up with it. They contacted my friend and we fell in love with it instantly and began to market the system.
I'm amazed at what knowing the right people and being in the right place at the right time can do in our lives. I have been responsible through my own contacts for bringing several other products to the company and it was always just a merging of events that just came together just right. I can't really take a lot of credit other than being a person who researches nutrition and skincare avidly, so I am exposed to a lot of people who formulate products. And, I have a company that will step out and try new things.
