I'm hoping to get some help on creating a daily skincare routine as it's all a little confusing to the uninitiated! What I mean by that is I'm male and never had a routine before. However fast approaching my wedding day and realising the effects of ignoring it in my younger days I tend to suffer from oily / combination skin with the main problem being enlarged pores around my nose and cheeks.
I've spent a few hours today looking into options, the Decleor range featured a lot on the bestsellers list here so I've come up with what I think is a good routine off the Decleor website and before picking up the bits here I just wanted to make sure a) I'd selected correctly b) any tips or advice on starting a new / first regime and finally c) if anyone had any other suggestions... here goes!
Step 1: Cleansing Gel
Step 2: Matifying Lotion
Step 3: Purete Exfoliante
Step 4: Aromessence Ylang Ylang
Step 5 Morning: Aroma Purete
Step 5 Night: Aromessense Ylang Ylang Night Balm
Thanks in advance! |

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! We're getting married a month from today
If you have not had a regime before I would strongly suggest KISS before jumping in there as going from nothing to a whole lot can make your skin freak out - something you do not want before your big day.
I would recommend a gel type cleanser for the oily/large pore parts of your skin as this helps to address the large pores and excess oil. Cetaphil is cheap and easy to find in drugstores and the like. There is one particularly for oily skin. I would do this twice a day. If you are somewhere with high humidity or where it is hot you may want to use a toner or cold water on a washer also helps to tighten pores.
If you add bicarb soda to the Cetaphil cleanser once a week to help exfoliate. Exfoliation quickens the skin's natural turn over so that your skin looks refreshed. You then wash this off after gently massaging it into your skin for up to a minute. I also like the morning cleanser from Sothys.
You need to moisturise after cleansing your skin. I am not sure what an appropriate one for guys would be. I would suggest one that is oil free (this should be stated quite readily on the labels).
Facials may be a great place to start as it gives your skin a headstart and then someone can suggest a routine for you. But def keep it simple! |

Hi mav, it can be overwhelming trying to pick a routine, I'm not sure Decleor is a line that will be all that appealing to men, it is essential oil based therefore is heavily fragranced. Your partner may not be keen on the scent of the products. I am also not sure that you will get a lot of results with those products. If you want to make your purchase from EDS I think the Pure Skin-PSF line may be more guy-friendly. They have a gentle castile cleanser http://www.essentialdayspa.com/psf-gentle-cleansing-cast-p_7503.htm and a vitamin C product http://www.essentialdayspa.com/psf-vitamin-c-serum-15-p_7212.htm that you could use in the morning. Then just use sunscreen and you should be good to go! At night you might want to try the Green Cream http://www.essentialdayspa.com/green_cream_products.htm Just make sure you use sunscreen during the day if you plan to use the Green Cream.
