I am 26 years old and have been using Mary Kay Time wise for the past two years as an anti-aging regimen. I also use a vitamin c-based serum from Keihls, which I love. Recently, I switched from MK to the Janson Beckett Alphaderma system. My question is this: what do I really need as a preventative measure for wrinkles? I searched and searched online but felt that many of the websites were endorsing products and were very biased. From what I hear/see there are A TON of different products out there...I could put ten different things on my face if I listed to them all. How do I weed out the good ones and find an effective skin care system? Help! |

If you don't want to use a lot of things... use just the things were there's the most evidence that they help with wrinkles.
These are:
- Tretinoin
- Vitamin C (I'd add also E) serum
- AHA
You should add them slowly and make sure your skin tolerates it. |

I recently turned 26. I was shocked to find that at after 25 you skin is considered as 'mature'
This has lead me to start using an eye serum to try to prevent crows feet. I use Korres Sugar Antioxidant Eye Serum.
I also use a vitamin C serum and LOVE it. I use a 23% serum by ASAP. I am also using oxygenating products but will see how they go. The vitamin C makes my skin luminous and people always comment on my skin. I wonder if the oxygenating products will do any more. I have been using Sothys Oxyliance Fluid for 3 months in conjunction with my vitamin C. I just added PSF O2 spray to see if I can get deeper with lightening one hyperpigmentation spot. |

As a preventative measure against wrinkles I would have to say:
-Tretinoin (don't use if you're pregnant though)
-vit.C serum and/or anti-oxident serum. Vit. E is important for skin health.
-sunscreen when outdoors. |

If you're looking to prevent wrinkles then Retin A is the best way to go. Do some research first, there'e plenty of information on this forum. If you want to keep things simple then in the morning you can cleanse, use Vitamin C and then sunscreen (if your face is dry you may want to use a moisturizer or serum before the sunscreen). At night just cleanse and use the Retin A. You may need to use a moisturizer or oil over it if you get too dry. |

i used to be in the 6+ products a night range. since simplifying my routine, my skin has gotten a lot better and my wallet a lot fatter.
i try to alternate actives nightly (vitamin C one night, retin-a another) and have at least one night where i have just my osea cream on or nothing at all, just to let the skin breathe.
i have learned not to buy everything i read about and stick with the few, effective products for my skin. |

You are too young to experience with Retin-A, in my opinion. For some of us Retin-A has make our skin dry, wrinkly, irritated, etc., but that is part of the treatment, I hope it delivers at the end though. If you are not experiencing any wrinkles right now, I would not advice you to start with something so drastic as this, and if you do, to see a dermatologist first and to follow under his/her care.
Vitamin C and other treatments are a good choice to start with. Also drinking lots of water to make a good habit of it and Omegas, vitamin C and D, primrose oil, exfoliation. |

I rotate products - different ones in the am Vs pm and also eye creams vary.
AHA's
Retin A (tretinoin)
C serums
Copper Peptides
And some form of sun protection of course. |
