I'm going to a nicer salon to get my eyebrows done, for a big event I'm going to on Sunday. The eyebrow session entails a detailed eyebrow design (to pick a shape that matches my features), as well as tweezing. The appointment is supposed to last 30 minutes and cost $40. I've never done anything like this before. How much should I tip? Is it like going to a restaurant, where you would tip say 15% for a reasonable job, and 20% for a great job? I'm pretty clueless about this, so I'd really appreciate any advice Thanks so much! |

I would follow the guidelines of 15% (ok job) to 20% for a great job. I am in Canada and I tip usually 20% on hair, spa services. I tip a little higher percentage on small $$ services (just a bang trim, for example). |

15% for a reasonable job, and 20% for a great job is right. I usually tip 20% because the person I go to always does a great job! |

I agree also, I hate tipping for bad jobs but feel like a cheapskate if I don't.
I go with 15% for a good job and 20% for a great job. |

Thank you so much, Autumn1995, jom, and DarkMoon! This is great and super-helpful to know. I will use the advice as my rubric I'm excited for my new eyebrow design tomorrow, and I hope that I will be tipping 20% |

All,
I did permanent eyebrows on Saturday. I am very, very pleased so far. They are dark right now, but the shape is wonderful. They will fade and will go back in 3 weeks for a touch up.
I have to say they were a shock once I came out of the place, I am glad I did it. It took me no time to get ready with make up this morning. Usually I take so much time with my eyebrows. This morning nothing. didn't do a thing to them. Just thought I share. I had an Asian woman do mine. Someone a friend recommended. |
