Most people use emu oil as a moisturiser, as its supposed to be very close to skin lipids, although some people find it quite heavy (myself included). I much prefer squalene, as its lighter, and does the same job as emu. Its believed if you put it on after applying actives, it helps to push them in further into the derma. |

I prefer to use Macadamia Oil, which has the fatty acid content closest to that of human skin (lipids) of any natural botanical oil. I do not use Emu oil, nor do I recommend it since it contains polyunsaturated fats that can cause it to go rancid very easily.
Hope this helps,
John |

John good points - thanks I had forgotten to mention them. I haven't heard of that oil though before. So I'll look it up! |

I stick with Jojoba oil.. I haven't been impressed with the actual, and limited, studies done on Emu Oil efficacy.. |

Oh yes, I agree with both of you, squalene, and jojoba oil are excellent. As a matter of fact, put all three together: macadamia, jojoba, and squalene.... and you form an almost perfect duplicate of the wax esters, fatty acids and squalene found in normal human skin sebum. Nothing could be more skin friendly and skin compatible than a base cream or lotion with those three raw materials in it. Of course, many of you have heard that from me before, and you know that those are the base materials in most of the products that I formulate and sell.

My favorite oil is Kukui. Emu and Jojoba dont agree with me skin. When I use Kukui I mix it with HA. |

NOTCH knows best here - but Kukui oil - as I understand it is less stable and tends to turn rancid more quickly than oils as mentioned. Maybe you should try macademia nut oil? |

I kind of find emu oil very off-putting. Also lanolin. Emu's are cute birds and I don't like the idea of putting their oil on my body. I don't think that's why emu's are put on this earth. But I'm a huge animal lover, so maybe it's just us type of people that feel this way.
I use sweet almond oil. BEST STUFF EVER (IMO) |

Emu Oil is my favorite Biological Healing Oil. I have used other brands in the past, but am now hooked on Skin Biology's version. It has added vitamins & anti-oxidants.
I usually buy more than one at a time & have never found it to go rancid. I suppose if it lays around long enough it will. I don't let that happen though since I also use it all over my body. If I am running low, I sometimes use Jojoba Oil on my body, but always Emu Oil on my face. |

I have been using emu oil for approx. 2yrs. and I love it. I use it instead of a moisturizer but sometimes during the winter months I use it along with a moisturizer! If you have oily skin then I am not sure how well emu will work for you! |

My skin is on the oily side and I use SkinBiology's squalane over their copper peptides. I was hesitant at first because I tend to get milia but it really gets absorbed well, which surprised me. I was tempted by the emu but didn't like the idea of an animal losing its life if there was another alternative.
I've noticed macadamia nuts spoil sooner than any other type of nut so I seldom buy or eat them any more. For that reason, I would be afraid to buy the oil. |

SoftSkin, the nuts themselves may spoil, as would any complete, whole nut. However, the oil is comprised of far less than 5% polyunsaturated fatty acids. This means that macadamia oil is probably one of the most inherently stable botanical oils on the market.
You can use macadamia oil with complete confidence that it will not spoil or go rancid for literally a very long time.

I love Hemp oil, use it everyday. I have oily skin and this doesn't make me oilier or brake out, absorbs right the way. And its good for the skin. |

I use jojoba oil on my hair, a blend of jojoba, macademia and soybean oil (mixed with blend of EO's for scent) on body and meadowfoam seed oil around eyes, neck and hands. For an oil cleanser, nothing beats pure jojoba oil.
Jojoba oil absorbs into hair and skin more quickly than any other, in my experience. Macademia oil absorbs as well but not quite as quickly as jojoba.
I've only recently introduced meadowfoam seed oil around eyes and forehead in the last few months, so I don't know the long term effects but after a few minutes I notice how swiftly this is absorbed too. Not sure what the fatty composition of this is, any ideas anyone?
P.S. I've never been tempted by emu oil... It may be too rich for my combo/oily skin and the thought of rubbing bird fat on my face warrants an EEEWWW factor I just can't get past.
Edited to add: jojoba, macademia and meadowfoam oil are all extremely stable and have long shelf lives.... |

I hate to recommend something I don't personally use...but I've read alot of good things about the benefits of avocado oil...from Kassy maybe??
I personally started using emu oil about a month ago as my last step in my skin care regime (only at night and only when my skin is feeling dry or extra sensitive...always after dermarolling.)
I've had great results in the hydration and "calming" effects and a surprising benefit has been the anti inflammatory effect on a breakout!(I don't break out very often but occassionly get that one big zit around my cycle!) |

I just discovered Emu oil. I purchased one a couple of years ago and decided to return it unopened because I felt bad for the little birds... but..wow.. what was I missing?? This is the best treatment for a mature skin. I can feel it going through all the layers of my skin because I had some dryness deep beneath it and after applying it, I fee my forehead so soft, no more dryness. My face feels at its best right now in years. No more expensive moisturizers for me! And I want the real stuff, what;s the point of buying it diluted or processed? It looks greasy and yuk on my face but hey, I don't sleep with a husband that could complain! |
