I have taken an almost year long hiatus from reading the forum, and am shy about posting, but I found some treasures on here this last week and am wondering if I am missing any other great products and breakthroughs.

I just turned 30, and am seeing a lot of fine lines pop up. I know I need to amp up my routine or else I'll have some irreversible trouble in years to come.

Currently, I wash my face once a day when I shower using Remergent's face wash. Yes, I still have a bunch-- I stocked up after they got bought out. For my moisturizer, I am using (gasp!) Body Shop's Cocoa Butter Body Lotion. It changes the texture on my body so nicely that I thought it'd do the same for my face, and I am not really prone to breaking out too badly, so I figured it was cheaper and more emollient than a lot of face creams. I found a spare bottle of DNA Repair last week when I cleaned out my linen closet (we moved and I had a baby, so life has been crazy), so I will finish off that. I am not currently regularly wearing makeup, but my baby is now 9 months old and sleeping through the night, so I need to get my life back in order and start looking decent again.

My Plan:
1. Cardio Exercise. I have these minute blackheads in my pores all over my face, and I need to get them out. I don't think there's a better way. I've had friends go on exercise routines, and it has changed their facial skin dramatically.

2. Facial Exercises. I'll probably start with Lou Lou's and then go on to Flex Effect.

3. Tanaka Massage. I got a kick out of the Chinese videos, and it just feels so good. I used the DNA Repair as my "oil" and I think massage is a good way to apply any cream.

4. Cleansing. Remergent Cleanser until it runs out (I have 3 bottles). Any suggestions after that? I considered Mary Kay 3 in 1. I want a great one that isn't too expensive. (Less than $20).

5. Moisturizing. Suggestions for dry skin with a slightly oily T-zone? If not, Cocoa Butter it will be!

6. Anti-aging Serums. I am interested in IS Clinical's Youth Complex after reading Antonia's results for her eyes. I am at a loss here. Any suggestions for a great one? I read that IS Clinical is becoming passe on the boards, and I was wondering if there is anything out there replacing it.

7. Easy Eye Solutions Eye Tuck Serum. I really am hoping this will get rid of the fine lines and bags I have and prevent more on the future.

I don't know if I want to try a retinol. I tried some once, and it burned. I know it's supposed to be amazing, but it just seems so harsh to me. I know it's only Vitamin A, but is it the carrier to get it into the skin that is so harsh? If anyone can settle my fears, I'd appreciate it. I'd probably go prescription with this unless there is an excellent non-prescription option with potent levels. Thanks for your help!

Congratulations on your baby! No wonder you were away so long.
I am not sure if you are open to trying supplements, but I use Vit A (don't think I could tolerate the topical because my skin is crazy sensitive) and it changed my face. I am in my early thirties, and just started to notice lines. The Vit A I take got rid of the lines around my eyes completely. Not sure about the rest - I am so limited in what I can use on my face, but I am trying CPs and like them. You might want to look into them.
Hope this helps.
Editing to add - I love the eye tuck from EES too!

While I think the entire benefits from exercise I have never heard of cardio being helpful for blackheads. Have you tried using BHA?

GirlieGirl, I have not tried BHAs. Would they help with blackheads? I've read a lot about the aspirin masks on the DIY forum. Would that be a good way to go?

Also, these are not big blackheads. They are teeny colored dots in the small pores that can only be seen with very close inspection, but they are all over my face.

I referred to my friend because I literally saw her face go from ashy and about my texture to glowing. She didn't change anything except her exercise. But you are right. To get rid of the junk in my pores, I probably need something more. Thanks for your suggestion!

I am prone to clogged pores and BHA helps. More so than retinol.

I am using Paula's Choice 2% BHA.

I have tried a few retinol products and some did irrate. Neutrogena did not work well for me. Green Cream level 6 did not do much and I moved up to level 9 and major blotchiness, etc.

I can Avene products with retinalhyde with no problems. It is not the same as prescription but a good line from the drug store.

Are you using any sunscreen? Very important especially if using exfoliants.

If anyone has postive stories about skin and exercising; I would like to hear them. I need motivation to exercise!

They say that exercise brings the blood closer to the surface of the skin, and that helps it to grow younger. The better the circulation the better the skin.

I know that cardio exercise studies show that it stimulates new capillary growth in the body, including many to the skin layer, so it's got to be good for the skin in that it at least creates more pathways for nutrients in the body to get to the skin, which is one of the problems with aging skin, right?

Are you taking a beta carotene form of vitamin a, or Acetate? If you are taking a vitamin A supplement, try to take one that is beta carotene if you are not using a really good birth control and are in child bearing years. Vitamin A acetate has been shown to cause birth defects if taken in pregnancy to excess. The beta carotenes are safe.

BTW about exercise making the skin glow- so does sex and its more fun! Hee, hee.

Really though. I exercise five days a week, and do agree it is healthy for the skin, but I do it because its healthy for my heart.

Hey There, I just turned 30 last December and have amped up my skincare a bit too. I have been looking through all the latest articles and journals and I'll let you know what I have worked out to be the latest must have products - that have been clinically proven.

The most effective seems to be Retin-a or Retinol as a must have. It's clinically proven to help rebuild and protect collagen and elastin but a sunscreen has to be worn. I was getting some yuk reactions from it so I now use the Avene retinol and going well with it.

The next best thing is the glycolic acids. The studies with them have shown rebuilding of collagen and elastin as well. I use the MD Forte Eye Rejuvenation lotion and the skin lotion level III too. I also do Glycolic Acid peels every week for a month every 4 months.

The next lot of studies have been on Niacin - Nia24 and the clinical trials have shown increase in collagen, elastin and evening of skintone. It helps the skins barrier to build which counteracts the thinning of the outer layer of skin that glycolics and retin-a cause.

My current routine is Retinol on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, Glycolic Acid on the other nights. Nia 24 eye cream and night cream every night and every morning I use the Nia sunscreen. I also just bought the Nia24 cleanser as I am so blown away by the results of the other products. I also use the TNS eye cream a couple of times a week too (I had great results with this eliminating my criss cross lines under my eyes a few months ago).

The results are amazing of this combo - I have no lines at all any more and my skin is getting firmer every day.

I hope this helps!! It's the results of my past year studying skincare and it's working for me!!

I 2nd the suggestion for Paula's Choice BHA, although you may only to use the 1%. I also wonder if your moisturizer the causing the issue in the first place.
Aspirin mask is great but its not BHA or as effective as using a BHA product, it's derivative of BHA.

Just two remarks. Is Clinical Youth Complex is great, I can highly recommend it, although it will not regenerate skin, it will make the skin look better. It is good for the day and you can use actives at night.
The other thing is that I use aspirin masks, and they are very soothing, anti inflammatory, but do not draw blackheads out of the skin. Oil Cleansing Method does to a certain extent for me.

Thank you for sharing!
Recently i started to peel with glycolic acid(MD),and applied also under eyes.At first i though it improved my skin, but when i look closer,i have more fine lines than ever before..This was no good..It must thin the eara, and not stimulate collagen in the deeper layers of the skin?I need to be careful with what i do here,so i don`t worsen the skin..

I can`t use Retinol.I am waaaay to sensitive.
Where do you buy Nia 24?
I am new at the forum, and trying to learn Smile

I am about to start with the EES,and hope this will work.
Thankful for input!

If I could go back and be 30 again I would love to have an LED device and wish I had continued the search for good sunscreen; ie, European with high UVA protection. I got in to it then dropped the ball and ended up using Neutrogena most of the decade.

I am using a cheaper LED unit that I like, the Pretika Light Sonic:
