I tend to find dry brushing and the no lipo gloves are all the exfoliation my body needs (and it tightens up looseness in the process). |

Dove gentle exfolating lotion. Can be used everyday. Clarisonic body brush is awesome. |

Since I managed to get new Pretika brushes (at last! Couldn't find any that would ship to the UK, kudos to Nanci at NCN) I've used the old one (disinfected of course) in the shower and it's great.
Actually, I wish the Clarisonic/Pretika had massage heads to tackle cellulite, so much easier than manually. I do itch quite a bit afterwards though, even with body lotion.
I've also got a long wooden-handled brush with rough bristles on one side and plastic massage "fingers" on the other but I find it a bit too rough. Maybe I should work up to it. Now I'm nearly 40 my body skin gets unbelievably dry, even my feet.
Some mix Retin-A with their body lotion, might start doing that! |

I like manual scrubs. My favorite is used coffee grinds mixed with olive oil. Its super cheap and works better then any other scrub I've purchased. I do this about twice a week.
For lotions I like Paula's Choice AHA body lotion (8% glycolic) or Amlactin (14% lactic). |

Is it in a cream formulation? Does it wash off or does it leave a moisturizing, soft skin feeling behind? I try to avoid those because it is nothing but build up and the exfoliating does not work well. |

I love Juara's Coffee Scrub. My skin has honestly never felt softer...and I only need to use it once every couple weeks because it just keeps my skin super soft. I think it has crushed walnut shells and coffee beans in it that do the exfoliating.
hope this helps |

You have perked up my interest! I've been tossing coffee grinds into the garden. Never thought to use it on my bod.
What proportions are the grinds to the olive oil?
Is there a chance the coffee could "tan" the skin? (wishing here for an instant tan ) |

I don't measure the mixture at all. I just add enough oil to lightly saturate the grinds.
I'm super pale and it has never provided me with a tan. |

I finally remembered to bring the coffee grinds into the shower with me. I added hemp oil since I was out of olive oil. I used this concoction on wet skin but think it would be fun to try it on dry skin also.
I absolutely love the way the grounds worked. Love it better than sugar or salt scrubs because the coffee does not dissolve and I could feel it working. I scrubbed rubbed longer than with the other scrubs. The shower did look a bit messy when I was done
My skin felt so soffffft afterward. WOW!
Thanks! |

ITA! Amazing actually that something so simple can be so beneficial.
Dry brushing helps the body detox too so it gives you additional benefits in that regard. |

I've had great success alternating with these two really nice (and cheapo) products:
My very fav;
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_skin_exfoliators.htm
Ingredients:
Sea salt, organic virgin coconut oil, organic jojoba oil, organic virgin palm oil.
My 2nd choice;
http://www.iherb.com/Alba-Botanica-Sea-Salt-Body-Scrub-14-5-oz-410-g/15137?utm_source=gb&utm_medium=f2
Ingredients:
Sea salt, certified organic helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil, citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel oil, certified organic simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) and prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oils, aleurites moluccana (kukui nut), macadamia ternifolia, persea gratissima (avocado) and orbignya Oleifera (babassu) oils, tocopherol (vitamin E), and pure essential oils.
They are both great body scrubs, and I love to just use it at the end of a hot, soaking bath once a week. To kick mine up a notch, I add a tsp or (two) of lactic acid into my jar when I 1st open it up.
Apply and massage for a few minutes, then use a body brush or microfiber to really get the dead crud off, then finish with a quick shower rinse.
Yes the tub will get a little oily, so watch your step. It's well worth it!
Light a few candles, and bring a glass of vino in and make it a real pampering treat.
We're worth it after all... |
