I picked up this lash serum and have been very pleased with the results. I've been using lumigan every 2 nights and then added this on the off nights and wow. It seem to give my lashes that extra boost in length and thickness. It is alot though because you have to use it morning and night. Haven't used very much out of the tube though. |

Today, I received an advert for L'Oreal "Lash Boosting Serum" in the paper. It is a $5.00 off coupon for the product which promises to "Maximize Your Lash Appearance and Minimize Lash Loss when removing makeup". The headline says "Give us 4 weeks...You'll see more lashes!" Really?! It also claims: "You'll see more Lashes" and "Bare Lashes appear multiplied".
What does all this mean? I did some research on the product and found that it is selling between $12 and $15 for a small vial. That seems low priced in the category. So, I had a look at the ingredients list.
AQUA / WATER / EAU, ALCOHOL DENAT., GLYCERIN, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, PHENOXYETHANOL, PANTHENOL, POLYSORBATE 21, MADECASSOSIDE, ACRYLAMIDE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE COPOLYMER, METHYLPARABEN, OCTYLDODECANOL, ISOHEXADECANE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, ARGININE, SERINE, CITRIC ACID, GLUTAMIC ACID, POLYSORBATE 80, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, 2-OLEAMIDO-1,3-OCTADECANEDIOL
The first ingredient is loaded the most, and it is water. Second ingredient is Alcohol Denatured. Now I don't know about you, but I don't want alcohol near my eyes. It will almost assuredly lead to stinging or irritation. Hydroxyethylcellulose is a "thickener" in this case, and Phenoxyethanol is a mild preservative. Both of these are usually loaded at 1% or less in a formula. So, this is approximately the "1% line". All the ingredients added below those two are probably loaded at 1% or less. So, the actives (arginine, etc) are loaded in very small amounts in this formula.
Essentially, this formula is just a hair conditioner. They make it sound like the product will give "more lashes".... "multiplied"... "thicker", etc. In reality, the results from this product would probably be hard to notice, and it won't induce any lash lengthening effects at all.
It is interesting to see how marketing can lead consumer's perception about what a product can do versus will do.

Hmmm, then I guess I'll stick with the Isomers Stem Genesis one. Even if it's 2x the price, at least it contains Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16 and I know it works. |

Hmm. Maybe my lashes really just needed a dose of conditioning. I was skeptical at first but thought what the heck I'll use it on my off days but it really is making a difference. |

The prostaglandin analogues can be drying so it's probably a great idea to have some nice conditioning. |

I saw the ad on TV and got interested. If I can find a coupon for it, I'll try it. Anyone knows where I can find a coupon that John mentioned?
I searched Makeup Alley and a review is good for it, too. Warning - her review is funny! LOL

Several weeks ago, I found L'Oreal's Lash Boosting Serum in my drugstore. The package promised that my eyelashes would be nourished, fortified, and strengthened. A line from an obscure song by Castaways came to mind, "Liar, liar, your pants are on fire! Your nose is longer than a telephone wire" and resounded there as I stood reading. For shame, L'Oreal, you who give us wonderful products. Do you think we're idiots? I bought it. I was going to expose this fraud and tell the truth. I was going to bring them to their knees.
The truth? It works! I was completely and utterly stunned. The comforting formula contains Beeswax, Carnauba wax, and Palm and Jojoba oils to nourish. Also included is Panthenol (think of Pantene products here and their ability to silken). I've been using it for two weeks.
This is not as exciting as "Avatar," but it comes close! Simply use the bristle-less wand on clean eyes in the morning and at night. Coat lashes, tending especially to the miniscule ones, and then use the tip as you would a pencil or liquid above lashes to draw a line. There is an immediate cool, refreshing feeling and lashes are pliable. You can apply mascara over it once it dries. L'Oreal claims that you will have healthier, resilient results in weeks, but I saw improvement with the first few applications!
Mine were gently curled upward by the serum. It reflects light and calls attention to your eyes. Depending on your desired degree of drama, you may even be able to skip mascara. I love a treatment which functions as a cosmetic. Mine have actually grown slightly and are less prone to damage. They are more glossy, voluminous, and lush than before, noticeable to family and friends. This works for those with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
My sole complaint with L'Oreal now? The back of the package advises that you don't dilute it with water or saliva. Gee, thanks--I didn't know that I shouldn't spit in my cosmetics. I'll quit doing it.

I just saw a good review of it in More magazine as well. I have a friend who uses it and loves it, so I am thinking of trying it in between using the careprost. |

Just bought this today..got it for $20..
I tried it tonight, it was ok to apply, no stinging which I was happy about! My eyelashes looked sort of wet afterward? After about 10-15 mins it was totally dry but my lashes feel as if I have mascara on, doesn't look like it, they just feel coated.
It supposed to be applied twice a day. It will be interested to see how it goes when mascara is applied over it, may have to wait before using the mascara in the morning.
I will update how it goes. It says 4-6 weeks for improvement. |

I have been using this stuff and liked it. Felt my lashes fuller and longer. What I don't like though is the applicator and the white residue left all over your lashes lenght.
I use a very thin brush instead to apply only at the lashline and it is much better. |

I have been using this for about a week, only once a day (bit lazy!!!)
I find it abit gluggy, don't think you could really apply it before mascara as I think it would make the mascara clumpy, although I haven't actually tried to to that as yet.
Still early days I suppose, I might try using a different brush too. |

I saw at cvs a serum by itself, or a lash extend mascara with the lash boosting serum on the other side. I wonder if I should get the combo. Has anyone tried the combo? |
