I have broken capillaries on my face(looks like a little red spot).I've tried even some laser treatment(photo facial) , but nothing seems to make that red spot disappear.
Does anyone knows any remedy to this??? |

You need to treat these with laser, I think photofacials are light treatments. I've seen vbeam is recommenced for this.
I've had laser treatments in the past, forget which kind of laser, and it didnt help. |

Photofacials are good for broken caps. I have had quite a few and they do work, just takes several over a few months time, and then once a year for maintenance.
But for a deeper or more resistant spot, a Yag laser is what they use for me. They take away the stubborn ones. |

Photofacial didn't work..and I've spend a lot of money. I'll do a research about Yag laser and need to find out if my dermatologist has one.
Thanks |

hey,
i don't know what your broken capillaries look like...but when i started at eds a couple of months ago, i had many very small ones, and the rest of my skin was in a bad state. bad state, meaning a little bit of rosacea, very thing, very sensitive, very reactive. during the day depending on my mood and stress level, i would get red spot and blotches on my face. they would come and go as they pleased. also, my skin was so dry no matter what i used, that during the day it would feel itchy or irritated. the end of the day would be worse... it would be hot, and aggravated... red, and aflame.
my skin is now calm, rosacea is basically gone, skin is hydrated, fine lines on my cheeks and eyes are gone (except a couple of stubborn ones below my eye), most of my broken capillaries are gone, i no longer have hot dry irritated skin fits, and only get red spots on my face a few times a week. meaning, my skin i so much healthier.
joining the forum was the best thing i did... it kept me positive and motivated to take better care of my skin. as well it kept me mindful of skincare and my general health, on a daily basis.
the basic reminders would be... as you know...
eathing properly, drinking tons of water, and taking my multivitamins.
since joining the forum, i've had great sucess with the valmont line. i bought basically everything and then some, for backup. i would say that the valmont products gave me a good base so that my skin could recover. it calmed my enraged skin, hydrated it, and helped it to heal. my main focus with this line were the cleansers, dermatosic serum, dna serum, and dermo soothing cream. (since, my skin has healed i'm using the rest of their anti aging products)
then i would have to give credit to EDS member whom brought the tanaka facial massage to the forum. it is a basic, easy and fast, facial massage that you do during your cleansing routine. i have to emphasize that if you have broken capillaries now, then you must do this facial massage VERY gently! i believe this facial massage helped me to build my skin back very slowly... it helped my body to do what it will naturally do. in addition to getting healthy skin back, my face looks more contoured, youthful and lifted.

IPL worked wonders for me and I had A LOT of broken caps in my face.
Also lasers, such as dye lasers, are good options.

Oh, I can totally relate to this one. I have a broken capillary right under my eye. I know exactly when and how it happened - I was in labor with kid #2.
It's about the size of a dot from a felt-tip pen and slightly raised. I've had it lasered 5 times from 3 different derms. Each time it comes back. Since it's so close to my eye (less than a 1/4 inch below the eye, in the inner corner), I've been told there is nothing else they can do.
So, I carefully cover it up with concealer each day. |

Ilina, Thanks for your reply.
I've joint this forum recently and I'm thrilled that everybody is sharing their experience.
I only have a few broken capillaries under my left eye, but they really bother me.
You say that all extra attention for your skin helped??Also started Tanaka and clean my face twice a day (never really pay attention to my skin, but know I'm turning 33 and just noticed that my face is ageing)
Happy to hear that Valmont makes miracles (still not sure what line should I choose...Jurlique or Caudalie or Valmont). |

yes, the extra attention helps the skin alot. when i get caught up with work and life stress, i forget to take care of "me". "me" gets push back on the priority list... again and again. then one day, you look in the mirror at you don't recognize yourself. and i agree about the age thing, i'll be 40 this year. i don't believe it... and i think i went crazy with skincare (buying and trying everything) so that i could fight it all the way!
but more importantly, this forum and the members here get me motivated and mindful of my health and skin/aging. i'm learning so much and having ALOT of fun!
its good that you started the tanaka. i do it too and love it. i think any kind of massage for body and face are good. with your capillary situation, please go gentle. when i started, i was so excited that i over did it by frequent massages and harder pressure. i broke more small capillaries and critic said to do it gently. i just needed a little patience in the beginning, and quickly after you'll notice that your skin and face are so much more healthier.
for your broken capillaries under your left eye... be mindful of it when massaging. go very light in the beginning... the massage with increases blood flow and thus oxygenation, repair, detoxification, etc....and it will reach those areas without having to directly stimulate that spot. later you'll notice a difference in your skin and thus be able to do a regular facial massages. most of my small capillary damage or see through spots are gone. i hope you find results with it too.
from reading on the forum, some products will work for one member but not for another. its quite puzzling. i say if $ is a huge concern, to go slow and read as much as you can about the product/line. however, in my opinion because you're young i wouldn't think you need "major" products.. sunscreen, moisturizer, and a good healthy lifestyle.
when you do purchase, ask EDS for valmont samples and a quick note of your skin type/or which specific products you're interested in. EDS is very generous and i think that's why there's so many hardcore EDS'ers!
i'm not sure if you this is a good idea?!? what if you like it?
have fun and let us all know how those capillaries are coming along.
ps don't forget to take you vitamins and eat healthily. *god i feel like a mom* |

I also appreciate the Tanaka massage, but did perform it too strongly several times (even though my face was well lubricated with botanical oils) and caused several broken caps (which are not normally a problem for me..but i was avoiding the truth that my skin is so much more sensitive in the cold winter)..so i am seconding ilina's suggestion to do this massage with gentleness (at least at first) if you already have broken caps ..so as not to create more. |

Hi Ilina
I'm going to scratch Valmont off my list...they don't deliver outside Canada and I'm in California. Still researching the other brands (as I don't want to spend $$$).
Just purchased Clarisonic and I'm anxious to get it and hopefully massage and Clarisonic can do a little miracle.
Keep you posted about my capillaries.

Oh is it the japanese lady massage? I did watch the video and it's hard for me to actually do the full massage like everyday. I tend to forget some of the steps too. I'm just wondering if I can just do certain steps that I have problems with like for my eye areas and mouth area?... So u just use cleanser to do the massage as u mentioned u massage during cleansing? |

hey star,
i'm not an expert... but for me because of my sensitive skin condition, i had to start of very very slow... and that entailed only doing a few steps for a minute... then just slowly progressing... excruciatingly slow becaue i wanted to do it all the time and get the full benefits.
i believe you can do a few steps BUT i remember that it is important to sweep to the sides of the face, to the back of the ear, and then sweep down the neck to the collar bone. this sweeping finishing movement is for lyphatic drainage... it is important that you're helping your face to detox and eliminated along the lymphatic route.
just go onto that thread and i'm sure someone will help you there.
yes, i do this during my cleansing routine... during and sometimes after... depending if i have makeup on, etc.
i'm not certain what everyone is using... please read in detail the original thread.
for me i'm using the valmont magic falls and shiseido perfect oil. these two ware oil cleansers, and find they are perfect for giving me a slick lubricant for this massage and great for my dry skin. |

I have a few broken caps under my eyes (right where the cheek skin transitions into the under eye skin...if that makes sense) To be fair, I have not had them diagnosed as broken caps by a Dr., but they look like little tiny red lines. I never thought about them very much as they 'cover up' well with the concealer and mineral make-up I use to hide my dark circles.
To target a few dark spots left over from pregnancy, I ordered Osmosis Catalyst serum from Joella Milan at the beginning of the month. Was putting it around my eyes for the past 4 weeks, and have been pleasantly surprised that the broken caps are diminishing. I am delaying posting a review on Catalyst until I have used it for another month, but so far I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at how well it is working for my dark spots and these broken caps.
Joella is in the USA so her products are available to you! |

myamax, finally someone using the Catalyst!! I will definitely be on the lookout for your review. Is this the only thing you are using at the moment to test it out? That is very impressive to hear that it is working on your broken caps! |

I have them on my cheeks at the sides of my mouth. Not sure what caused them but I've seen very young children with the same problem. I did have my cheeks pinched very hard by sadistic friends of my mum when I was little. It could also be due to the harsh scrubs I used when I was in my teens |

No one has mentioned this one yet, but...I just had a bunch of broken caps zapped with an electrocautery needle a few weeks ago. Though I still have red spots that have yet to heal, there is definite improvement in the caps, and the redness overall.
It's not fun, but I'd say it gets the job done. |
