Hi

If you're in the UK check out the Liz Earle website at the mo, they're a UK company based on the Isle of Wight that do amazing skincare with the minimum amount of nastys in them.

Very skin friendly. They have a special offer on their Cleanse and Polish (cleanser) triple packs for a limited time, the P&P is free within the UK.

I highly recommend the cleanse and polish, I have tried so many different cleansers in the past and this is definitely the cleanser I cannot live without.

It's so gentle you can take off your entire makeup with it, including eye makeup with no sting. I love the thick creamy consistency and apparently it can also be used to shave with if run out of soap or shaving foam.

I recently used a Gatineau thick foaming cleanser, the Melatogenine one, I applied it all over my face including my eye area and wow did it sting, my eyes were red and streaming for ages afterwards. That does not happen with the Liz Earle one. You also get a muslin cloth which exfoliates as you remove the cleanser.

I've just received some more C&P from them and as a thank you for being a regular customer they sent me a full size complimentary one too, which I'm really chuffed about.

Anyway, I think they also ship worldwide, you've got to try it out and they do great little trial sizes. I think it's the best cleanser around. Smile

They also do amazing Orange flower botanical body wash, nourishing body cream, sun care, faux tan is great, really natural and no nasty whiff and daily eye repair is great too.

Their website is http://www.lizearle.com

Is anyone currently using this? I got a sample size a few days ago and am using it in the morning.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it. I want to wait to review it until I've been using it for awhile.

I'm quite enjoying it and it is much less expensive than my OP Carrot Butter Cleanser BUT I'm not sure I like it MORE than my CBC. I will be at an impasse when it comes to reordering my night cleanser...as the CBC is very expensive (it came out to 60 bucks with shipping and the exchange rate...too much $$ in my opinion.) but it is amazing when it comes to removing makeup. LE doesn't remove as well, but I might be able to "get by" as it is 40 bucks less. Le sigh.

Thoughts on LE Cleanse and Polish?
TIA!

Hi all

I used to use Liz Earle a few years ago and i really do think her products are fab. I loved using them but unfortunately for me the C&P and moisturiser (even the light one) were to rich for my combo/oily young skin. for those with normal or drier skins her products are probably much more suited. the thing i loved about LE products was the amazing smell they all had especially the instant boost skin tonic. when my skin settles down and becomes drier as i get older this is one range i would definitely try again in the future.

I've been eyeing this product for quite some time now, but I still have a lot of other cleansers left. I'm currently using OP Rose Cleansing Gel in the morning and Eve Lom Cleanser in the evening. I'm wondering for those of you who use this cleanser morning and evening, does it dry out your skin at all? How well does it clean compared to OP Carrot Butter Cleanser or Eve Lom Cleanser? Does it leave your skin greasy? Also, has anyone tried any other products from Liz Earle? TIA! Very Happy

While I like the OP Carrot Butter cleanser better, I will probably go LE entirely once it's done (I use my sample, which is almost gone <gasp> every morning) both in the AM and PM.

OP takes off eye makeup more easily, but I can still get the same effect with LE, it's just a little more work. It doesn't dry me out and I truly enjoy both cleansers.

I'd go LE all the way mainly because it's much more affordable and both cleanse really well...OP is super duper expensive (but oh how I love it so)!!!

Hi andaman_gypsy,

I'm currently alternating Liz Earle with Eve Lom so might be able to give you an insight into the difference between the two.

The Liz Earle stuff smells gorgeous and I have never known it to dry my skin out (but then I always follow it with her moisturiser which is pretty hefty stuff!)

I think for heavy makeup removal I would always opt for Eve Lom. I wear eyeshadow base, eyeshadow, eyeliner and several coats of mascara. If I try to take this off with Liz Earle, it takes several attempts, smears all round my face, and I end up rubbing my eyelids with the muslin cloth to try and get it all off - it's a nightmare.

If I do the same with eve lom, nothing is smudged around my face as it seems to disappear on the spot. Really, one minute i have full eye make up on, the next it has almost completely gone. Couple of wipes with the muslin and I'm sorted.

Similarly, the C+P tends to sink into your skin after a short time massaging it - this usually means I end up having to apply more. With Eve Lom being more of an oily/waxy based product it remains on the surface so you can continue to massage for as long as you like.

In terms of greasiness, I feel as if the Eve Lom leaves more of a residue on my face afterwards, but, Eve Lom recommends you do not use a moisturiser afterwards. For C+P you certainly can as there is nothing left on your skin afterwards.

Having said that, I have never known a company provide such customer service as Liz Earle does. When their parcels arrive, beautifully wrapped and complete with free (sometimes full size) gifts it really does feel like your birthday!

My other favourite LE products include the Instant Boost Skin Tonic, the Superbalm Concentrate (great for even very oily skin), the Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash (gorgeous) and Botanical Body Cream. They also do a nice gentle exfoliator which is the same consistency as cleanse and polish but contains eucalyptus and jojoba beads to exfoliate. One of my favourite products is Eyebright - a gentle liquid that you can put on cotton pads to soothe your eyes. I wear contacts so my eyes often feel hot and sore and this is a godsend.

In short, i don't think Cleanse and Polish is necessarily the best cleanser in terms of makeup removal - but if you don't wear make up then go for it. It's a quarter of the price of Eve Lom and seems to contain far superior ingredients. I have normal to combination skin and have never found dryness to be a problem, nor does it leave my skin greasy afterwards. However, even when I am not having a cleanse and polish phase I will always be using something from her range, be it shower gel, exfoliator, toner or whatever.

Hope that helps - let us know how you get on.

fidget-jones,

Thank you so much for the comparison and explaination. I do really love Eve Lom Cleanser as it doesn't irritate my very sensitive reactive skin nor clog my pores. However, it's a bit pricey and I'm considering an alternative. Smile Anyway, Liz Earle's cleanser does sound really good. I don't wear much makeup, but I do wear a high SPF waterproof sunscreen. I've noticed that when I use other cleansers, they don't remove the sunscreen as well. So, hopefully, Liz Earle's cleanser will do a good job at that. Actually, I'm interested in her whole skincare line except for the moisturizers. Smile Anyway, I have a question regarding Superbalm Concentrate. Can you use it every night on its own in place of night time moisturizer? And regarding the Gentle Face Exfoliator, does it feel rough on the skin? TIA!

I can well understand the need to choose a new cleanser - I think my purchase of Eve Lom will probably be a one off due to the cost!

I use the Superbalm Concentrate over a moisturiser, and this is how they suggest you use it. It's really lovely and makes my skin glow. The only comparable product Ive found is Baume Essentiel from Decleor.

As for the Exfoliator, it's the most gentle face scrub I've tried (and I disregarded it for many months due to this!) If you tend to prefer scrubs with very fine granules this may not be for you, it's the complete opposite of rough. My skin isn't particularly sensitive though, so you may want to get a sample before you fork out (it says on their website that it is suitable for all skin types, except sensitive).

I did have a really bad experience with benzoyl peroxide 10% cream a few years ago, which resulted in my skin peeling off my face and I couldn't even use E45, vaseline, or aqueous cream - it was that sensitive. During this time the only skincare product I could use was Cleanse and Polish, and once my skin started to recover I was able to use the exfoliator.

What I sometimes do when I order LE stuff is request specific samples. There's a box when you place your order to add any additional comments and I ask here. Most times they are good enough to send me one, so you could always ask for a sample of the exfoliator (or the superbalm concentrate).

Thanks Smile I'm just wondering...are you using Liz Earle's moisturizer with Superbalm Concentrate? Can you use it with a moisturizer from other brands? As for the exfoliator, I'll definitely have to ask for a sample first. Most manual exfoliators feel too rough on my skin. For example, EpidermxII felt like razor on my face!

I sometimes use it with Liz Earle's moisturiser yes, but more often than not I use it with Decleor Hydra Floral Cream and the results are just the same.

I like Liz Earle's moisturiser, but I wouldn't say it has the spectacular results that other brands can give you. By all means try it with any moisturiser you like Smile

Hi fidget-jones,

I have tried eve lom before and all the rubbing with muslim cloth made me dry skin even drier. Should I even bother trying liz earle? I don't wear makeup just sunscreen in the morning.

Thanks!

adaman-gypsy the gentle facial exfoliator is just like the name says "gentle". liz Earle who developes the products suffers from eczema and has developed all of the products so that she can use them, she says she couldn't find anything to suit her skin and as she knew alot about skincare she made her own. If she can use it with eczema then hopefully you should be able to use it. It is not uncomfortable to use at all, and IF you find there are too many beads for your liking you can mix it half and half with the cleanse and polish (you can also use this trick with the brightening treatment)
Hope this helps you

Wickawer is right about Liz Earle products and eczema andaman, but do be aware she doesn't recommend the exfoliator for sensitive skin. I know from my own experience that I wasn't able to use it when my skin was at its most sensitive. Here's the description of the product from the website:

"This kind, yet effective facial polisher is ideal for gently buffing away dead skin cells and impurities to leave all skin types (except sensitive) brighter, smoother and fresher."

Mtview - it might be worth trying the Liz Earle. Cleanse and Polish does contain more nourishing ingredients than Eve Lom (such as cocoa butter) and if you feel it is the muslin cloth that gives you problems, I would just try gently wiping your face with it as opposing to rubbing it. I think the main thing to remember with Liz Earle is that it's a one type fits all cleanser, and so if you are at the extremes of very oily/dry/sensitive, then it may not be enough for you. Again, they're really good with samples and small sizes, so it wouldn't hurt to try it out that way.

Thanks. I will order from a site that take returns. I have been having so much problem with my face lately. Either dry, flaky or breaking out or both. Can't take it anymore Sad

well just thought ide update my last post here.
I was in London recently and since this thread sparked my memory of Liz Earle i gave her shop a visit. I couldn't resist once i could smell her products and although i was still unsure if they would be to heavy for my skin like they were before i bought some goodies anyway.

she had a spring offer on her cleanse, tone and moisturiser with a cute bag so i got that with the light moisturiser. i also bought the gentle face exfoliator, the deep cleansing mask, brightening treatment and eyebright ... needless to say i went a little crazy Embarassed lol.

well i have to say i am so thrilled i gave this another go Very Happy

i had been using dermalogica for about 4months and though it was ok and worked reasonably well my skin didn't look that great. Ive now been using Liz Earle for 3 weeks and my skin looks great. its sooo much clearer actually no spots at all , pores are clearer , skin is brighter/glowy and baby bum soft he he. and its not my imagination because even my bf commented on my skin and he notices nothing lol.

I love her exfoliator and deep cleansing mask really cleans out the grime from pores and the brightening treatment is great on those early mornings where you feel a little worse for wear.

just for information this is my routine;

AM

LE Cleanse and Polish
(brightening treatment - when needed)
eyebright
Makeup

PM

LE C&P
gentle exfoliator
(deep cleansing mask-when i feel like a treat)
instant boost skin tonic
Eyebright
skin repair light

i love how simple the morning routine is because i always sleep in he he . my skin is combo and i find just using C&P in AM enough for my skin and i don't need to add anything else since its super soft and hydrated and my make up goes on so much better and looks better now i don't have creams and oils and whatever else underneath it.

sorry for my long rant but just thought ide share my results in case it helps someone else.

so all in all i am completely thrilled with this routine and was wrong in thinking the products would be too much i just needed to alter how i was using them.

Hi everybody!

I bought liz earle cleanser one week ago because I just got tired of trying cheaper products that just couldnīt be used as a full face make up removers (they used to sting my eyes badly. So I was working in London for 6 weeks and saw this at a John Lewis shop for 13 pounds (i know, quite a bit for a cleanser)and I said to myself "what a hell! It even comes with 2 muslin cloths" lol and i got it
Lets just say Iīm so happy I did! Itīs the best cleanser ever if u like one stop cleanser with no non-sense. It cleans everything but I find it a bit difficult to remove my strong mascara so I use a natural sponge with it at night and the muslin cloth only in the morning and my skin is completely clean after. Because it has a relaxing smell and is very moisturizing I use it to massage my skin and activate the circulation. My skin is soft and moisturized after and glowing. I have combination skin and doesnīt cause me to break out or leaves my t-zone oily. An amazing product!!

My best friend got this for me and ended up using it herself. She has dry, super sensitive skin and it works very well for her. It's the first cleanser she can use without problems (even though she probably only tried about 4 in her entire life). For me, it didn't do much. it didn't irritate my skin, like most cleansers do, but it didn't help my breakouts. Sad

Hi Penta, sorry to hear that. It says in the bottle for all skin types but yeah, the texture can be a bit too rich for skin with breakouts

I used to love this cleanser. It gave me soft, hydrated and exceptionally clean skin. However they have reformulated this product.

They took out the almond milk (nut allergies for some customers- strange it took this long Neutral ) and replaced it with cocoa butter.

It doesn't stop breakouts anymore, and is abit TOO creamy for me now. I have dry skin btw.

I have super dry skin from using accutane almost a year ago and was inspired by the Liz Earl muslin cloth idea and it works great with my regular cleanser with no irritations and I use it every night. Though if I could find Liz Earl products in Australia I would definitely go try them.

Hi! I love this cleanser but I wonder if any of the people that use it feel like they need a toner afterwards?
I also had a problem with it. It was making my skin too oily (maybe because I donīt use toner) so I started using it only at night and I love the way my skin feels afterwards.
