One of my Christmas presents is a gift certificate to a wonderful spa (I used to have my hair done there, but it was just a little too far away)
I was wondering if I could have some opinions on the Aveda line of products.
I am thinking of spending my GC $$ on a series of 6 facials here but haven't heard much about Aveda products on this board (my #1 resource for answers to my questions about this new obsession of mine.....)
Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.

I love many of the Aveda haircare products (their Brilliant Universal Styling Creme and Annato Color Enhancing Conditioner are two of my holy grails!), but I haven’t really used any of their makeup or skincare products, so if that’s what you’re needing advice on I’m afraid I can’t be much help....One thing to keep in mind about Aveda products is they have a heavy signature scent – the minute you walk into the salon, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! If you’re sensitive to heavy fragrances or prone to “perfume headaches,” consider yourself forewarned. Another thing, if you’re thinking of having your hair colored at an Aveda salon, you just need to know that the hair dyes that they use – while being a lot healthier for your hair – don’t have a lot of staying power. Even their “permanent” hair colorants really don’t last much longer than the average semi- or demi-permanent color (i.e.: about 30 shampoos). On the other hand, they can custom mix a color enhancing shampoo or conditioner that you can use at least once per week to refresh the hair color! If I had to recommend one Aveda product or product line, at would be the Brilliant line. Can’t live without the Universal Styling Creme, and I love the matching shampoo and conditioner with the signature Aveda scent, which – in this case – is divine!

Thanks, Carrie. Now I am tempted to use the GC on hair services. I haven't used Aveda products for so long, I just wondered if anyone had experience with the skin care line.
I have been thinking for a while now how much I'd like to make a salon facial part of my routine. I am wondering if this is a good place to start.
Thanks for the information about the hair products though, I appreciate it. |
