I just got my first order tonight. I really wasn't expecting it yet so it was such a surprise to get it. I tried the Bare Essentials make-up tonight and I really love the way it goes on and the way that it looks. It is so much better than the liquid makeup that I have been using. I have never used a mineral makeup before but I would definitely buy it again. |

I agree, I am in love with Mineral makeup, I can't see me using anything else. It doesn't leave a line, no turning orange throughout the day, and looks better as the day goes on,,that is unheard of!! lol. Thank God this site sells it,and in CDN $. |

I heard some ppl said the makeup looks better as the day goes because the natural oil secreted from your skin would mx with the mineral make up and give its natural looking and staying power, I am not sure, I am also using the BE foundation, but I just couldnt get the consistent color and coverage, sometimes, I agree with you all that it looks great and natural like the bare skin, but sometimes, it's not! How did you put it on? Do you have the same problem? |

I have just started using BE mineral foundation, and I found that if I put too much on, the make-up looks too heavy. Now I only put on one light application followed by the Mineral Veil (I love the Mineral Veil!!). I agree that this foundation has great staying power. My only disappointment is that the foundation really emphasises my pores, especially for the first few hours of wear. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any way around it??? It's the only thing that would keep me from buying it again. |

You have to use a flocked sponge with any of the mineral foundations if you want to de-emphasise pores. I was amazed at the difference when I used one. I ordered the JI sponge. |

yes, I do have the same problem that my pores become so visible with the BE foundation, esp. with the light reflecting particles in the foundation ..
Again, like I mentioned, this is what I would say inconsistent coverage .. sometimes, the pores can be covered, but another time, the pores are so visible!!!!
I never tried using the flocked sponge.. abighill@aol.com, did you mean that you first apply the foundation on with the brush that comes with the BE foundation kit, and then with the flocked sponge?? Thanks! |

Yes bbiz. I put my mineral foundation on with the brush and then I use the flocked sponge to blend around my nose, chin etc. Anywhere that the foundation seems to be uneven. I was just about ready to put my BE and Jane Iredale stuff in the bin until I bought the sponge. It's such an integral part of applying the makeup that I think they should recommend buying one when you purchase the foundation, especially if you have open pores, and who doesn't!!! |

Thanks abighill@aol.com, I also have another question if you could help , how often do you need a touch up throughout the day with the BE foundation? I dont use the foundation with that sponge (will try that !, and I noticed that the foundation comes off in about four hours, you could actually see patches of "powder" on my face .. what do you do with the touch up? Do you just apply another layer of mineral makeup with the sponge? Thanks again for your help! You are right, I am about the dump my mineral makeup too .. I hope I see the light again with the sponge:) |

abighill@aol.com, I guess I need to mention to you also that I have combination skin, it behaves quite normally. except some breakouts once a while.. (I dont think my skin type would make the BE foundation work against me, but I am not sure).. thanks! |

bbiz I too have combination skin, since I've started using a flocked sponge with the foundation I've noticed that ii doesn't seem to go into patches, I use decleor facial mist after I've done my makeup and I find this seems to set it until I take it off in evening. Mind you, I rarely get the chance to look in the mirror during the day, so I may well look absolutely dreadful!! However, the makeup looked okay when I last checked!!!!! |

I love mineral makeup, too! I find BE a bit shiny and heavy looking though so I use Jane Iredale instead. |

Leebel,
It's one of these http://www.essentialdayspa.com/jane-iredale-flocked-spon-p_2423.htm but I am not sure exactly what the difference is between it and normal cosmetic sponges but they're not the same. I do have the JI one though (probably bought it from EDS) but you should be able to get them at the Aus Jane Iredale stockists.

BE eyeshadows are really nice, too. They have such great staying power and work great as powder eye liner. They don't fade or smudge like cream/stick eyeliners tend to do. I love Drama as a liner
I agree with the flocked sponge to de-emphasize the pores. Also, what helps me is to apply the makeup from the outside of the face in (from hairline to nose). That way, less foundation ends up in the large pore area (by the nose).

I have used both and find that JI is better for me and my dry skin. I also like the liquid foundation that JI has. I know that you can alway mix a little moisturizer with your foundation to create a liquid mineral foundation. Just wanted to share. |

I have combo skin, didn't pay attention to the pores, but my biggest problem though is it's kind of hard to put the power on after I applied moisturizer. That makes the foundation goes on unevenly....need to practice more.

has anyone heard of "sheer cover", a new brand which is being advertised on the radio now, all mineral too. www.sheercover.com. I don't see their powder has SPF thou...they claim it can cover everything, including wine stain and birth mark too. Has anyone tried it ?

I've been using bare essentials for about a year now and love the stuff so much.
I dont seem to have any problems with it enhancing my pores or fine lines. I do have combination skin that can be sometimes quite greasy. I dont find that I have to re-apply it at any time during the day or that it goes flaky. Maybe I'm puttin it on with a trowel!!!!
I might give the JI a try as so many people think thats good as well... |

Great tip! It would be like creating your own tinted moisturizer. I have mixed mineral blush colors with clear gloss or vaseline to make lip gloss. Very shimmery and pretty!

I've been using BE for about 6 months now and love it! I've tried going back to liquid foundations, but always go back to BE because of the natural look! |
