I have tried a couple of different eyelash growth serums now, and I am really not impressed.
I have tried Skinactives, L'oreal, and now Latisse (careprost). Nada, nothing, zilch!
my eyelashes are fine in the middle of the eye, its just near the outer edge thats the problem.
I really feel like just giving up and having eyelash extensions, I did have these before and loved them, but the upkeep was alot and my eyelids got alittle red after a while. I am thinking of just having a few put on the outer edges. I think it would probably work out cheaper in the long run. AND alot less trouble!!! |

I've used the Careprost and Rapidlash with great results. However, my bottom lashes still have never really improved as much as I would like and some of my lashes sometimes come in curling in strange directions but I manage mostly to get them looking nice with the mascara.
What I hate is when finally one of my eyes looks great and then a few fall out making a thin area that is hard to conceal. Guess I need a special mascara with fibers for times like this. I wonder how others deal with the occasional fall out of a cluster of lashes, or am I the only one that happens to? |

Bermie - I'm curious, have you used careprost for 16 weeks?
That is frustrating that you haven't had any luck. I think I would consider the extensions also. |

I've never had any luck with the lash growth products either - plus I was allergic to Careprost. You could try Ardell Lash Growth Accelerator - it goes on like a mascara. It won't make you sprout thick lashes but it does strengthen what you've got - it's only around $8.00 at Priceline and I think it's really worth using. |

I had great success with Revitalash. It made my lashes grow to about twice the length and quite a bit thicker. The downside was eyelid irritation and unfortunately it was bad enough that I had to stop using it. The strange thing though is my lashes didn't go back to the length/thickness that they were. I'd say they're about 30% longer and thicker than pre-Revitalash, and it's a good year since I stopped using it! |

Must admit..no, I haven't been using it for 16 weeks, probably about 6-7 weeks. I know!! not long enough really, I just don't know wheather I can be bothered ordering more. I am still using it, been I thought I might see SOMETHING? by now. Also I am really wanting to not have to wear mascara at all. Can't see that ever happening! |

I've used the Ardell as well. Liked it enough to repurchase. Currently it's $3.99 at drugstore.com!

It didn't thicken my lashes, but they are longer. No issues with irritation or lash breakage/fallout. |

I have had excellent results from both revitalash and careprost. Did you use them daily for at least 6-8 weeks? It does take about that long before you will start seeing any real results. |

You should definitely keep using it, assuming your eye tolerate it. I have read atleast 8 weeks before people start seeing some results. |

I started taking Rich's MSM crystals (1/2 teaspoon per day) about three months ago and my eyelashes have never been so full or so long as they are now. I didn't make this connection until today when I was on a thread about MSM and found out that other people have experienced this also. Just thought I'd mention it |

I have been continuing with the Latisse! I have decided I will reorder, and give it more time.
Tried to get the Ardell in priceline but it was sold out. I really think I need to tint them too, as I keep looking in the mirror.. and I think the tips look lighter in colour? maybe if I tint them they will show up abit more. |

Just weighing in with a couple of thoughts in case it helps, in regards to my "Lumigan" use for approximately 8 months (I think).
** My green eyes still have a halo of reddish/amber just around the pupil. I'm certain it is permanent.
** My naturally very dense lashes have thinned out considerately from how they were pre use. (They are still fuller than what I see on the majority of people, but I'd estimate I have 30% less density now then I did previously.)
** My lashes grew ridiculously long (too long in fact), but took on a spidery look. They shed at a much greater rate then what naturally occurs, even when I ceased using it.
** The very slight reddish eyelid discoloration I noticed fully resolved within about of month of not using the product.
Personally I think keeping the eyelashes nicely conditioned with some castor oil here and there, is the best (and safest) bet.
I also agree that MSM is awesome for hair (and nail) growth. I only take 1,000 mg/day, and I honestly must cut my nails weekly and my hair monthly. Ridiculous! Unfortunately, the benefits haven't reached my eyelashes.. (They're nice, but just not as great as they were before I screwed around with Lumigan.)

That doesn't sound good as to Lumigan, how long ago did you stop? Just wondering if the normal fullness might return?
I am sure you know I never tried any prostaglandins my eyes are just too darn sensitive to risk it. |

wow Kassy, that sounds scary
I would hate for my green eyes to change colour, I have been checking frantically in the mirror, but mine are fine, so far. I do think there is a very slight bit of discolouration on my eyelids, near the lashline.
my eyes are incredibly sensitive, so I am surprised at how little reaction I have had. I do finally notice a small difference in the growth (I think) but nothing dramatic. It is mostly in the middle of the eyelash, its near the outer edge that I really need!! But I have definitely noticed less lash fall, hardly any in fact.
I think its been about 6 weeks? so I will continue and see what happens.
thanks for all the feedback..x |

Bermie,
If you do a Google search for "Castor oil" you will see in addition to its other useful properties that it's good for eyelash growth. I have been using castor oil for over a month now on my skin (oil cleansing method and using it neat on my cheeks). I put it on my eyelids near the lashline and leave it on overnight and my lashes have grown full and long. It's only been a month. I used to have short sparse lashes that I could not really grip with my eyelash curler. I never knew if the curler was gripping the lashes or not and sometimes I would grip my eyelid! This is not a problem anymore. Make sure you use only good quality pure, cold-pressed castor oil. I buy mine from a health food store in their skin care section. |

I've been using LiLash for the last few years w/ good results and need to reorder. Does anyone know if the they've changed the ingredients in this? I no longer see a progastilin(sp) ing. in there (but I don't have a list for an older formula). This is the current ingredient list.
Quote: |
Purified water, Panthenol, Lupinus Albus Seed Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Seed Extract, Silica, Glycerin, Coloidal Silver, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, 9 Alpha, 11 Alpha, 15S-trihydroxy-17-Phenyl 18, 19, 20-Trinorprosta-5Z, 13E-Diene-1-oic acid, Isopropyl Ester, Hydroxyethylcellulose. |
I've used Revitalash in the past w/ good results, but that was when that had a progastilin ing. in it as well. I have brown eyes, so the possiblility of an eye color change doesn't bother me.
FYI - LiLash is on sale this weekend (til the 29th) for $99 w/ coupon code 99Thanks. Normally priced at $139.
What are the current ingredients for Revitalash and what's its price? |

I've been using the PSF Prolatogen eye lash serum and am quite impressed. I used Rapid Lash in the past, but wanted to stop using anything with the chemical ingredients.
When I stopped using Rapid Lash, I did have very mild shedding, but it stopped quickly and I really don't think I experienced the same loss as I would have in the past when I stopped using Rapid Lash. The PSF is extremely gentle to my sensitive eyes. I haven't had any reaction. My eyelashes are well conditioned. Rapid Lash gave me new growth and length, but my eyelashes didn't appear to be in as good a condition as they are now.
It took me about 3 weeks to see the difference. You won't get the dramatic results you get with the products that include the drugs ... but I'm still happy with the results I'm seeing and even happier that I don't have to worry about the side effects.
Just my thoughts .... I really think that the jury is still out on the long term effects of these serums. Anything that can change the colour of your eyes cannot be good for you long term. |

These are just a few! Some have prostaglandins and others don't, there are also more mentioned by members commenting on the site.

Thanks for posting marta's reviews DM - I must explore her website more often.
I didn't realize the Rapidlash had cp's in it. I may have to try that. Does it still have a prostaglandin analogue in it? Which ingredient is it?
I have actually been using Folligen lotion for a while as a substitute for the Lilash so I could spread out the remainder of what I have left. I only use the Lilash a few times/week and the Folligen about the same. My lashes are still very long - long enough for neighbors to ask about them. It would be nice to have a lash applicator with both CPs and the prostaglandin analogue in it. |

Just did my own sluething and found the answer myself- it does have the analogue and it's isopropyl cloprostenate. CPs PLUS a prostaglandin analogue (my LiLash that has one has worked GREAT the last few years - don't want to get rid of that ingredient)
I think I've found my next purchase! |

Well, I just ordered some Rapid Lash and can't believe how cheap it is- $23 from Amazon. Got an extra one for my daughter. Hope this one works as well as the LiLash/Folligen has for me. |

It's an adventure finding the prostaglandin in the ingredients other than of course Latisse. You basically have to check any ingredient you don't recognize I often feel like I am playing where's Waldo when checking! |
