Hi

I see some of you are real hair product addicts. Can you help me?

I have *very* problematic hair. It's the finest I ever met and totally sensitive to climatic conditions. Varying from straight to wavy to madly curly according to the arridity, humidity levels of where I'm living. Can't use anything heavy on it like most of these modern shampoos with polymers or it goes completely crazy. After a decade of hunting for the holy grail of shampoos I gave up and just use baby shampoo and Skinbio's shampoo (very nice).

Now I'm going extremely grey. I've got quite pleasant wings and about a 30% sprinkling throughout, I reckon. I don't like having the full dye because of the unnatural look of it and the roots. Can anyone tell me what to look for in a temporary colour that I can use at home?

My current hair colour is hard to describe. Used to be blond, then dark blond, now kind of lightest brown with some very subtle gold/red tones (natural) in it. My problem with temporary dyes is that you have to go darker it seems to me from the packets and it doesn't suit my skin tone makes me look like a witch.

Actually I quite like the grey but just want to inject a bit more colour into it, so home highlighting would be an option if anyone has any recs for that too.

I go on and on, but my hair is the bain of my life.

I am sorry I can't help you in your quest but I thought I'd chime in here to offer some information my sister in law (former hairstylist and color specialist) gave me when I had a terrible (think greenish) experience with color at the local salon.

I am not sure which, but one (or several, not sure) of the ingredients found in baby shampoos that are used to keep the formula gentle for child eyes, strips color.

IT worked like a charm for me, nasty green cast worked its way out of my hair after using baby shampoo. I had to wash twice a day for a week or so.

My point is, if you're trying to achieve great color results, don't follow up with baby shampoo. Good luck in your quest!
