I picked up a bottle of this oil at my local food co-op because it was on sale but I am always skeptical about putting oils anywhere near my skin. I have the type of skin that breaks out from "occlusive" pore clogging agents like vaseline, mineral oil, coconut oil, cocoa and shea butters, and synthetic lanolin, etc. These are often cited as good for keeping moisture in. Needless to say, it is hard for me to find a good moisturizer that doesn't evaporate right away.
I have heard from this forum that jojoba is actually a wax and I have read elsewhere that this oil does not clog pores but is rather accepted and incorporated into the skin as if it were sebum-like. Another example would be squalene. Sebum is good for our skin, it keeps it plump and the cells protected so they can do their renewing job. Rather than holding moisture in from the top, it renews it from the inside out by adding to what we lose as we age.
I must say I am THRILLED! I put it all over my face, over all of the acneic areas,as well as my hands before bed and when I woke up my skin looked plumper and smoother as if I had used vaseline. I was not oily at all and I did not wake up with zits. I will use it every day from now on. Thank you to this wonderful forum and to all who share their personal beauty routines. |

I like jojoba, too. It's light and moisturizing. Lately I've been giving rose hip seed oil a try and have to say, it's pretty nice. Am intrigued by the studies suggesting it contains a natural retin-a and can help reduce wrinkles and skin damage. Kind of sounds like a good adjunct to vit c. There's a link at the bottom of the page for purchasing the oil. They're located in Eugene, OR, your neck of the woods, I believe. I swear I received it in a few days and the quality is outstanding. A friend of mine is using a wild-crafted version and even that didn't seem as fresh as what this site offers. (I ordered the organic version.) I think a few folks on here have said they've experienced break-outs, but I have pretty sensitive skin myself and haven't had a problem. Have a look: http://anti-aging-with-sasha.com/rosehip-seed-oil.htm |

I too love the effcets Jojoba Oil has on my skin, applied at night, the following morning I could literally get up and go out without even having to wash my face!!!
Fanastic review by the way |

I guess I'm in the minority again because I tried jojoba oil a week ago and every time woke up with little white zits. I was really hoping it would work for me since it's natural and inexpensive. oh well |

jadette, are you using an exfoliator? I know that acne is only partially caused by sebum, the other half needed to make a plug and clog a pore is dead skin, particularly inside the pore itself. I have to exfoliate or I am sure this oil would mix with dead skin and clog me up too. |

I got my bottle of jojoba oil at Trader Joe's. It was $7 for 4oz.. at first I thought it was kind of pricy but I still have more than half of the bottle and I've been using it daily for months. I only need to use 1 drop. Even 3 drops makes it way too oily. It really stabilizes my skin (oily, acne). definitely recommend it. |

Salyclic acid is the only acid I know of that exfoliates inside the pores as opposed to glycolic/lactic acids that exfoliate the surface. The PSF pumpkin mask has this in it and it wonderful.
Since my last post I actually put some jojoba along the part of my hair when it was dry and rubbed it into the top of my scalp just before I shampood. I have dandruff and my hair gets oily very quickly, thought this stuff would balance out my sebum up there, too. The first time I noticed (and my hubby did too!) that my hair was very soft and for the first time it felt like it used to when I was a kid. It also helped keep my oilies at bay over days. Only done this twice, so can't give a definitive rave for hair yet. so far I'm liking it! |

I also use jojoba oil. I mix jojoba, rose hip, and essential oil (rose, or camomile). It is a very good moisturizer, doesn't give your skin break outs. I love it !!

Ok, here's an update on using it on my hair. It definitely helped to reduce itchiness but did not get rid of my dandruff. I am assuming that it is a yeast problem that I will have to use selenium sulfide to get rid of. Also, a little really does go a long way. I used too much when I rubbed it into my scalp and it didn't shampoo out too well. Within a few days my hair was getting dread-locky on the ends as if the wax was matting it together. It wasn't noticeable until I tried to comb it out. Suggestion: use sparingly. |

Hi Pnw, I use 15 ml. of jojoba oil, 15 ml. of rose hip oil, and 4-5 drops of rose or camomile essential oil. I usually put only one type of EO. |

Jojoba makes me break out too...jadette. It makes everywhere else on my body look great and I love it but it gives me little white bumps on my cheeks. |

Pure jojoba breaks me out too, pure mineral oil (I use food grade) doesn't at all, I love it! |

I like using Jojoba on my face as well. I use it to remove eye make-up, then wash my face with a gentle cleanser. Very gentle on the delicate eye tissue - no tugging and pulling.
Its just a nice multi-purpose oil that mimics the natural oils in the skin. I never would have tried it in a million years had I not discovered this forum! |

So Jojoba is good for acne AND it's moisurizing?
I use DHCC as an exfoliant. Should I use something stronger? I really wanna try this. |

I love jojoba oil, as well as apricot kernel oil and rosehip oil. I use them on my face everyday. |

hi, jamie630
I find the jojoba oil on exfoliated skin, when used sparingly, does not clog my pores, so therefore is noncomedigenic (doesn't cause acne) and makes a good moisturizer. |
