Hi:
I am on the hunt for a sunscreen with good UVA that won't break me out. I went the European sunscreen route (Bioderma, La Roche and Avene), but they broke me out really badly. So, the two suncreens that I've tried that haven't broken me out and claim to have good UVA protection are Neutrogena's Helioplex and Skinceuticals' Sheer Physical Defense. However, since the US has not UVA rating system (say like the European PPD), I am at a total loss about how well they protect against UVA. I've heard that there is way to calculate it based on active ingredients, but don't know how to do it, so if anyone on this forum knows how to do it, I would REALLY appreciate your input:
Neutrogena Active Ingredients:
Avobenzone (3%), Homosalate (10%), Octisalate (5%), Octocrylene (7.5%), Oxybenzone (5%)
Skinceuticals Sheer Physical Defense Active Ingredients:
Titanium Dioxide 6%, Zinc Oxide 5%
Thanks in advance! |

you can look at the % of zinc oxide the higher %, for example 15% to 18% of zinc oxide has a better protection |

I wouldn't take anything on EWG site as 100% fact. While some of the data there is actual some of it is also opinion. Definitely do your own research on what you find there and decide for your self.
