Hello,
So... I finally bit the bullet and I got some filler (Restylane fine lines) underneath my eyes.

It looks SO much better! I'm waiting for it to "set" to see if I want to take it a step further and do something about my veins... so far I'm so happy I don't think I'm willing to go through another procedure for it.

I took "before" pics and hopefully next week I'll post "after" pics.

Anyone else has gotten procedures done?

My dermatologist suggested YAG laser using internal shields. I did not ask much about it but it sounded scary!

All the best!

Congratulations Josee and nice to see you back on this forum. I have never had the procedure done and I am not sure if you will get many replies on personal experience with Restylane Fine Lines since I don't believe it has been approved yet in the US. I did find this for you though since you mentioned YAG laser treatments. Refer to the section under Warnings/Precautions (theoretical risk of inflammatory reaction):

http://hcp.restylane.ca/en/hcp/using/pdf/Restylane-Fine-Lines-CAN-PUTS-90-86682-01.pdf

To be honest, I bought the vial and he put it on for free.

Oh... I hadn't realized it wasn't approved in the US. So I guess people use just the regular Restylane (or some other filling) for the tear trough?

I usually search the RealSelf website for answers on which cosmetic procedure is recommended for various conditions. I did find this link; it seems that a lower bleph (transconjuctival blepharoplasty) is recommended, or fillers such as Restylane or Juviderm may also be suggested.

Yeah, I also peruse through realself for opinions on cosmetic procedures Smile

In my case, since I don't really have wrinkles, a bleph would not be best. I don't really have hemosiderin or hyperpigmentation, it's really just the veins Sad So I might go through a phlebotomy.... we'll see! So far I'm so happy with the Restylane that I seem to believe my dark circles are totally gone. Hooray for placebo effect!

You can expect to pay $500-$600 for 1 syringe. 1 Syringe is usually sufficient.

Filler in the TT area is not approved but it is a common area to be filled. It is used off label by many PS's for this area.

I think a very important thing is to get someone really skilled!
The skin in the tear trough area is very thing. So if the Restylane (or any other filler) is not put in properly it can "show through" and can look bad. Yeah, the doctor can put hyaluronidase to "erase" his/her mistake, but then it's usually messy and you can end up looking worse than you did before the whole ordeal Sad

I have gotten a pretty major overhaul my eye procedure was a "medium" eye peel. I sure would have hated to see a deep one! but it was worth it . it took away my eye bags and tightened the skin around my eyes. My PS said it would rebuild collagen. The rest of the work was a quick lift. I am in the US and I did have "off label" inject-ables with great results. Know your injectors skill. Obviously you did, you are happy.
well I couldn't figure out how to post the gruesome pictures and the wonderful outcome. Maybe when my DH comes home.

Wow RMC, you look fabulous! Young, glowing and refreshed!

I would like to have a few things done, but haven't mustered up the courage yet.

Other than the eye peel, have you had any injectables? I ask because I am getting close to making an appointment to possibly try Botox in forehead and 11's and also some Juvederm in the nasolabial folds.

Smile

I am trying to work up the courage to have my tear troughs filled! i have had my lips done a couple of times and love the results, also had Juvaderm Voluma in my cheeks last year, but don't see any major difference. I also have Botox and love it, I just get it in my 11's.

I am due to have next month, would love to try the tt, but I am very fair skinned and afraid you will be able to see it.

Did it hurt?

It didn't hurt much... he put a sort of numbing cream 30 minutes before the procedure.

If the dermatologist knows what he's doing you should be OK because the filler is supposed to be inserted very deep, next to the bone, so the filler shouldn't show. I have very thin skin and I am very fair and you can't notice the filler at all.

Ok so here are my 2 pictures... they actually turned up pretty blurry but I hope you can see the improvement.
Yesterday I had IPL right there on the border of my cheeks (ie. the inferior border of the dark circles) because I had some hyperpigmentation and broken capillaries that sort of "delineated" the circles so next week it should hopefully look even better than in the after pic Smile

Josee,
Your under eye area looks awesome!

What is the difference between Restylane Fine Line and "regular" restylane?

They have different degrees of crosslinking so it's like the gel particle size is different. Restylane fine lines is more fluid hence less chances of "bumps" showing through thin skin (like the periorbital area)

I do wish that it would become available in the U.S. My worst area is under my eyes; I have a few horizontal lines that nothing seems to help!

I really don't know how much it would help with undereye wrinkles.

In my case I really used it to make my undereye circles a bit less prominent. So the derm injects it very deep, really like close to the bone, so it gives volume to the tear through. He doesn't inject it over the lines and I'm not sure if it would work because the skin in that area is so thin that I would fear the filler would show through the skin.
