i am trying to decide what to get for my hair. has anyone tried japanese hair straightening treatment or know much about it? i am considering it because its easier to keep than flat ironing every day. i have medium thickness long hair (down to my waist) its quite healthy and everything but now i am sick of it looking like "meh" and want it to look "kept"

I haven't tried the straightening myself because I have naturally straight hair. And sometimes if I wake up looking wavy I like it becuz it looks quite natural and not frizzy. But my hair is currently fried as I dyed and permed it (not at the same time). Anyways if you dyed your hair it would probably get fried because that straightening treatment really takes a toll on your hair - it's on the same level as perming. It's also expensive so it might be more economical to just flat iron (imo).

i had a coworker (she has thick shoulder length blonde hair, but i think she's a natural brunette) who had really really curly hair and she straightened every day. i suggested that she look into the japanese straightening system. she got it done, she paid $450. it didn't look too smooth compare to others that i've seen. i think it might of been because she colors her hair alot and bleaches it too. my aunt (asian with thick wavy, kinky hair) had it done too and her hair fell out, so that was the last for her.
my suggestion is to find a reputable place that does it on a regular basis. if it's too cheap than i would think twice. this is your hair and especially you have healthy, virgin hair. i've seen some that came out beautiful. but goodluck with your search and decisions. Smile

Waist length hair to straighten, yikes. My hair was almost as long before I got it cut (way too short) six months ago. It was a pain to comb, blowdry and straighten every time I showered- I do it all upside down to get extra volume, plus it's easier to see when it's in front of your face, and let me tell you it's hard on the neck. I used to straighten it every day, but it got too demanding and time consuming so I thought frig it, I'm only straightening it when I come out of the shower.

So on days when I didn't wash my hair, yeah I woke up with slightly wavy hair...but nothing like the unruly hair dos I'd get naturally. If you're going for the iron method, DON'T straighten every day. It's frustrate you. Wash your hair every 2-3 days, straighten it after you blowdry and leave it until you wash again.

Who knows? Some day you might wake up and be bored with having straight hair. Then you'd have all that money wasted. So just do the iron thing.

I've got curly hair, so Japanese Straightening makes a huge difference to me. Though if I had straight hair i'm not sure if I would bother with it, since you would be able to get similar results using irons.

In the UK it's quite expensive, where I went the price depended on your hair length, mine was only shoulder length and it was 400 pounds, so I can't imagine how much waist length would have costed over here Shock

I'm sure it would be easier to manage if you had yours straightened, but only you know how much of a difference it would make to your hair. You should go for a consult first and see what they suggest.

I would chose the flat iron, because those treatments could be more damaging for ur hair than a flat iron. in my case i use the -- G3 Salon pro, it works pretty good with any type of hair.
