Both contain 15% of Vit C but the price is quite different($97.5 vs. $45). Anybody could give an explanation for this? |

happier2009, it is not the % of the vit.C in the serum what determines it`s price. It is price policy of the cosmetic line, it`s marketing, market positioning, strength of the brand name and so on...
there is Vivier 10% vit.C serum priced $65 and Valmont Radiance serum $177. The % here has nothing to do with their prices.
how have you come to that conclusion anyway? |

Maybe try using the search function on EDS, happier2009, as there are many comments on these two. Here's a few to get you going:

happier2009, I`m using Skinmedica C at the moment and I like the product very much. This is a very stable silicone-based vit.C complex and it`s efficacy was shown in clinical research. However some people break out from silicones in it, so if you have problems with silicones, you might have a look at other serums.
I haven`t used PSF vit.C, so cannot say anything about it, just read about some people were complaining it oxidizes very quickly. |

Hi I'm also in the market to try a new vit C. It's so hard to find a stable, but silicone-free product! Please let me know what you find. Thanks! |

I think there are several type of victamin c. For example, when I am doing the research on the DDF C3 Plus Serum, I found there are three types of victamin c in it:Ascorbic Acid,Sodium Ascorbate and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate. Lots of company use Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, because it is much stable and not easy to oxidation. |

The PSF C serum is the one product I don't like from this line. It does oxidize quickly. I prefer Professional Solutions Triple C. Very stable and reasonably priced. |

Dumb question but how do you know how quickly the serum oxidizes? |

Just based on the colour change. When it oxidizes, it changes into a yellow/orange colour. The smell may change too |

I used the SkinMedica quite a while back. It is in a silicone base so it has a very different texture than many other C serums. I'm not a huge fan of silicone - just don't like how it feels, but I know others who love it. This is considered an anhydrous base which is supposed to be more stable with L-aa, but there are concerns that it doesn't sink in as well. |

I'm not adverse to silicones but this product really was too much. It just wasn't pleasant to apply and didn't seem to make my skin look healthy, which vit. c serums usually do.
I now use Cosmetic Skin Solutions C E Ferulic. I've used quite a few C serums and I know they are a fave of EDS posters, so perhaps we could do a poll to see the most popular? |
