I hope this thread will encourage people that are struggling with thinning hair. This product,Toppik, will not help hair grow but it will just make your hair look thicker and add style.
These are photos of my mother, she is 80 and after recent surgery and medications has experienced hair loss. She has enjoyed a full thick head of hair all her life and has really struggled with this hair loss in the crown area, top front, and back area of her hair.I started using this product on her a couple of months ago and she is thrilled with the results. I think this product would be good for someone with thinning hair, and I have friends that use it bouncing back from chemo when their hair is growing out. I bought it at Sally's Beauty Supply but it can be ordered off the Internet at various sites. You can get many colors and it matches well. You sprinkle it in and it attaches to the hair shaft and scalp until you wash your hair again. The cost is between 21.00-24.00 for a small can. It has given my mother back such confidence in her appearance.
hair blown dry and next shot is curled with an iron
Now adding the Toppik

Wow that is truly amazing! Can you comment more on how the product feels both in your hands and once it's on hair? And does it do anything to address hair loss or is it more like make-up for hair? |

Toby If I look anthing as good as your mother when I am in my 80s I will be pleased.
Having said that this stuff looks pretty good!!
My mum could probably do with some she is in her
middle 70s and is always moaning about her thin hair this may just be the ticket
All I need to do now is get it and get her to use it |

I have never tried this on my hair I can't comment on how the product feels on the scalp. My mother hasn't complained of any issues. It doesn't help with hair growth it just covers up what is not there. I will say that I don't have to "work" her hair to get that full volume look like I used to with lots of spray and products...that within itself would be better for the hair.I am now her stylist, colorist, and this is not my profession....(no training just lots of experience with my own hair)and this product makes fixing her hair so much easier. I had seen this product advertised and laughed thinking it couldn't possibly work...boy was I wrong! |

Toby that is incredible. What a find. Your mom looks very good for an 80 year old woman and I'm sure helping her hair look it's best helps her feel her best. |

I was sent Toppik and Couvre to review for my blog. Super impressed. I posted pics. You can really see a huge diff and I am much less self conscious about my bald spots.

It's the Spencer Forrest post. I'm also using the X5 laser off label for my face- the depth is 650 which is in range for skin rejuve. |

Ok can I ask those toppik users here, how do you use it. I've read about it coming off on peoples hands and their sweat turning different colours and am a little weary.
I've bought myself a tub though this morning, and a new hairspray (was thinking the hairspray might help it stick a bit longer and stop it coming off).
Toby - if I can get my hair looking like your mums I'd be one hell of a happy lady. Is this something that a person can do themselves or would you need anothers help (please tell me its easy to do yourself). |

It is simple to do yourself and my mother has never complained of it coming off on her. I really use a lot on her in certain areas. The lady at the retail store told me regular hairspray works fine...you don't have to use the one by the company. Mother is a once a week hair wash person(thank goodness since I end up doing it! )and she hasn't had problems with it staying in place. I just recommended it a friend of mine that has thinning hair due to chemo and she said it is keeping her from wearing a wig and everyone has been commenting that she looks like she has twice the hair she used to have before chemo!
If you are just starting to use it you might want to start lightly and see how it goes. Mother gets hot easily and works in the yard, which of course gets the scalp heated and probably wet but she does fine. But mother is vain and if it was a bother to her she might not mention it because she is so crazy about how it looks! |

I have spots in my hair that show my scalp at times. Depending on how I wear my hair. This product works very well. I dye my hair every 5 weeks or so, and this product lets me extend out until the next time I can dye my grey away. I recommend this product. It does not run when you sweat. I take a spin class and, the product does not run when I sweat and I sweat from my head mostly. |

I've not used this product every day since I last posted, but I've used it a few times for special ocassions and I love it. I only use a light coating of hair spray, but it fills in my thinning areas nicely and doesnt come off easily. I've not tried working out in it (yikes but will do after reading the above post) but it did make me feel like a young woman again! Very happy thanks Toby for mentioning this! |

TheseaMary,
I am thrilled you are pleased with the product. Every time I fix my mom's hair she seems to feel totally rejuvenated seeing what appears to be a full head of hair! When you look good you automatically feel better! |
