TCA at 20% is some strong stuff. I worked for a Derm for over 6 years and he used to do TCA's. We as Estheticians never did them. I personally would never recommend someone try to do this peel themselves at home, even though I know you can buy this stuff off the internet. Which is crazy...I'm an Esthetician and it is unlawful for me as a professional in my state to apply this strength and type of acid to a client but anyone can go on the internet, buy this stuff and do it themselves. Anyway, be careful if you do it. No more than one layer of the acid (and I'd recommend you start with a lower percentage to try it, like 10 or 15%)). Summer isn't a great time to be doing agressive peels. |

Thais for your info.. I've used tca peels before. Actually a 12.5% and done five layers with that. Isn't layering supposed to increase the strength.. Well can you explain exactly how it works and what does a 5 layer 12.5% turn out to be?? |

I also know that the peels sold online have a higher ph level which make them weaker then the ones use in your or any office. Soo I'm sure it wouldn't burn my face off lol! |

I think with at home peels lower %'s are better. You can do damage to your self with an at home peel, there is always a chance.
If I remember correctly with the 12.5% TCA, 2 layers are the equivalent of approx 18%. I read this on their web site years ago.
Did you do a series with the 12% and were not happy? What are you trying to correct? |

Thats what i figured so i would say 5 layers was about 28%?? I have some hyperpigmentation some scars!! When I applied 5 layers I had very minimal frosting but where it did frost it peels nicely. I not only want to use it on my face. Ut other areas of scarring as well. |

PH is definately a factor. You'd be surprised how low the PH is and how unbuffered the peels are online, I've checked them out. Layering makes for a deeper peel and the higher the percentage of the acid, the less layers you should be doing. If you feel comfortable doing this to yourself and you've done it before, then go for it. |
