whah, I've been getting gum ache by a wisdom tooth, one of those buggers that is just about through  I would have had to wait 3 weeks to see my regular dentist so I went somewhere else today and he thinks debris is getting round my gum and making it inflammed  . I had been making myself ill thinking they were going to have to rip it out 
Anyway because I was fine and I think happy hormones were flowing I've just bought a violin and I'm about to go EDSing as therapy. 
Not a good topic I'm just releasing tension! |

Eve, I can relate to your dentist stress. I hate dentists here. Its SOOOOOOOO expensive. I actually flew out to Poland to get a filling done and my wisdom tooth taken out a couple of weeks ago, cos it actually worked out cheaper. Am actually thinking of starting up a small business doing that!  I know people fly out there to get plastic surgery but I think I'll stick with dentists and maybe skin care too as I don't want to be blamed if someone doesn't like their new nose.  |

Oh Eve I hate the dentist too. Even though I have a relative dentist. I have been known to have panic attacks in the chair.
A Water Pik is really good to flush out debris in that area and between your teeth. If you rinse out with warm salt water several times a day it should help with the inflamation. |

Don't blame you for worrying that they would rip it out. Having your wisdom teeth out is horrible. I had my top wisdom teeth out about 7 years ago and it was a nasty experience.
You bought a violin? Do you play or are you thinking about learning? My boyfriend has recently started to take piano lessons. He turned 30 recently and suddenly decided he wanted to learn. |

wow I can't imagine flying abroad to see my teeth done, but like you say it is expensive and very few companies offer health/dental plans. I reckon you could be onto a winner, a consultancy maybe that makes all the arrangements for poor brits needing to get their teeth fixed because it's so dear here. It's shocking really considering the amount to tax/vat that gets taken of us.
Hey who can blame him it's never to late to learn.
It's a gliga violin. I used to play in school so it should all come flooding back  I've looked at them in the past but always put it off. I actually sing but my music teacher got in to tango a while ago and persuaded a couple of his students to join in he has visions of a live music/cafe place so who knows in the future I can invite you for coffee and a dance! - I have an accordion so have been playing that for a couple of years and I wanted to pick up another instrument so I've got a viledin on the way
and an EDS order to keep me happy |

Hi Lisa thanks for that!  I've switched to redbush tea (no caffeine) because I know tea and coffee minerals like calcium out of your body, I know I lack magnesium and that's important for your teeth. Funny we only check our lifesyle when something goes wrong. |

I'm sure it won't be a viledin. Seems like you're a woman of hidden talents, Eve.
The nearest I got to musical ability was playing the recorder at primary school. Now that was a viledin. Drove my parents up the wall with my rendition of 'Three Blind Mice'.  |

Well, I got a filling, wisdom tooth extraction, x-ray, fluoride treatment and my teeth cleaned by a hygenist all for about £50. That's what it would cost me to get a filling done at Boots and thats not even counting the ridiculous amount they charge on top for the privilege of getting a consultation. The dentist was top notch - brand new equipment, clean and super friendly. I've been doing it for the last 3 years now. The flight costs about £80, so it does probably work out maybe the same but I also always get a facial, nails, feet and hair done for a fraction of the cost. I reckon I might draw up a business plan when I get a spare sec  |

| My friend in London always goes to Poland for dental treatment as her husband is polish...They reckon the treatment is fantastic...due to kids and a dog we have to make do with a 90 mile round trip to our nearest dentist |

Hello everyone
I am a dental hygienist and I can tell you that flossing, brushing and a good mouthwash works the best.
Yes the water pick is great for areas out of reach but the floss should become eveyones best friend.
The best purchase for yourself is a good toothbrush and sonicare is great. Yes it can get a bit pricey but it is a good investment.
It doesn't tear your gums and it does a great job.. Once you start using it you will never go back to a regular brush.
If you guys have anyproblems with teeth whatso ever please ask me and I will try my best to help with out any diagnosis.. I know that dentistry and dentists all together can get very expensive even for a stupit consult |

one more think
for those that love coffee tea coke and any other bevarages that stain teeth..
Drink everything through a straw and less staining will occur..
So if you are at home watching TV and drinking wine.. drink through a straw, after all who would know..
smokers.... to stop staining after each smoke drink a glass of water.. it works.

Hi Eve! I SO relate to dentist anxiety! I have to go to a specialist who deals only with Nervous Nellies!!! I take halcion (like valium) BEFORE i go - and then get put to sleep when I get there - even if I'm only getting my teeth cleaned! I am the quintessential chicken!!! Escape with your violin (what an extraordinary instrument!) and enjoy your EDS goodies!....And big sigh for you regarding your wisdom tooth......I started to tense up just reading about it!!

I'm better than I was, a few years ago I got hold of a hypnotherapy relaxation tape - so I kind of put myself in trance before I go - but still that can only last for so long.
I'm beginning to think it might have been related to my sinuses as I have trouble there and as that's eased so has the tooth -an ex-dental assistant suggested that.
