Hello!
I have just purchased Cellex-C sun care SPF-30 with an expiration date of 04-2002.
Does this mean it has lost it's protecting ability?
I am going to Bonaire and need something I can count on!
Thanks!

Hi LK
Good choice fo sun protection, unfortunately your expiry date as expired and therefore should be discarded. You should puchase another, make sure you it's spf-30 for summer season and lower for the winter season, or you could use the spf-30 all year round and use everyday even when it's not sunny as the sun rays are invisable. Lisa, you can say that again. This product should be definitely discarded. There is no use for it as it's protective properties are gone.
I f you need something that you can count on - consider also: Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense Sport SPF45 (90ml). This waterproof, sweatproof sunblock contains 4.5% zinc-oxide and delivers maximum protection. It was also voted as the best sunscreen by Alure.

The hair salon...a rather full service spa, I go to for my hair cut. Took me 6 years to find someone good....I'm in Wisconsin.
I used to drive back 3 hours to Chicago for a hair cut...and art supplies...I've a small streak of vanity)
Never used the other services, but I do buy skin cream, shampoo...and some nearly no color lip conditioner. I trust them....that's why I never checked the date.
Now that I've read everything in and on the box, I find there isn't a phone number for Celex-C....
bummer....
I can't even contact them!
Well....I've got exactly one week before I go. What do you think....I hit up Walmart? |

I forgot to ask....
when you asked:
"who sold you that 3 year old SPF30?"
you got me thinking.....
does this mean it's realy good for roughly 2 years from the date it gets made/packed?
In other words...does this mean it was made in 2000, with a 2002 expiraton date?
Just curious.

It is just my assumption and rough calculation. We have SPF30 on our shelves right now with expiration date 08/2004 and we got it in the end of last year. It must to take at least 3-6 months from the time it was manufactured to the time it reaches retailers so I assume that it gets expiration date at least of 2 years from the time of manufacturing.
Since yours is already expired for almost a year now, I figured that it is approx. 3 years old. |
