I'm using the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair concentrate for a skin boost. I don't want to give up my retin-a and cp's regimen...can you guys think of any reason why I couldn't use this with an hour wait time and then apply my cp's or retin-a?? Or maybe the reverse...the retin-a or cp's first, then the EL serum? Any opininions? |

That might depend on which CPs you use - the serums or the creams. Usually w/ products, the rule is - the thinner product goes on first as it will absorb faster than the thicker one There's also the pH factor - the lower the pH the product is, then that one goes first.
W/ your scenario, if you have a cream based CP, I'd apply the Retin A first, let it absorb a bit (say 30-45 minutes), then apply the CP, let it absorb some and then the EL ANR.
Maybe alternate nights w/ these products just applying one each night and see how that goes? |

That is helpful info Foxe. I am using the supercop serum, but I think the EL ANR might be a bit thinner in consistency. I'll have to investigate pH. Thanks again for the help. |

Advanced Night Repair doesn't have to be used at night. In fact, for many many years Lauder recommended it's use in the morning. So, you could use it under your sunscreen. |

I have used the ANR Concentrate and love it. I personally would not use it with the CP's at all (just my personal opinion, as this product is meant to be used at night on its own). If you want to continue the RA, I would put the ANR Concentrate on before the RA, and then I would switch your CP's to the morning.
(Josh, the regular ANR definitely can be used in the morning, and the Concentrate may be able to be, as well, but they recommend the Concentrate at night, as it is thicker than the regular ANR and they only recommend it for 21 nights.) |

riley, I think, they recommend it for 21 nights only to make it more mysterious. The Concentrate contains 5 times more antioxidants than the regular version. I don't see why it cannot be used regularly or whenever the skin needs it. Think about all the other concentrated serums/creams (e.g., Environ Intensive AO gel, C E Ferulic Vitamin C AO serum), most of them are supposed to be used regularly.

LOL, that could be RussianSunshine! I did ask the EL people about the Concentrate and using it daily, but they did not recommend it, something about it being thick and possibly causing breakouts after a period of time. Not sure I have that right, but it was something to that effect. |

I used the concentrate for well over a year and didn't experience a single problem. Even Paula Begoun says there's no reason not to use it all the time and that the formula is vastly superior to the regular version. |

Again, such helpful info!! Thank you! Josh, what do you think the concentrate did for your skin, if anything? |

That I noticed - evened my skin tone out somewhat, reduced redness. At 41 I don't have any wrinkles or sagging, my only signs of increasing age are pigmentation from more than 30 years of sunbathing.
I also found it very soothing and calming, more so than the regular version. I think that's because the regular version actually contains the UV filter octyl methoxycinnamate (octinoxate) to help protect the ingredients from damage. I find octinoxate to be somewhat irritating. |

I was told that anything applied first before cp's delutes the strength of the cp. Is this true if you wait awhile? |

Good to know that this can be used year round, used this last year with great results. Months ago I burnt my wrist, not once but twice, and recently had a major break out & picked at my pimples (bad habit). Picked up a bottle Sunday night and I cannot believe the improvements with my skin and the burns already. I thought I was "wowed" last year! I remember last year this was the only product that got me out of big trouble when I had some bad scars and such. |

Hit the nail on its head but just to err on the side of caution try applying the copper serum thirty minutes prior. |

I horribly overdid the Retin A and my face looked like a lobster earlier this week. I had ordered some ANR Concentrate with a free bonus of the regular ANR based on the recommendation of some fellow EDS'ers, and they arrived this week.
I used the Concentrate last night....my face was 50% less red within 15 minutes of applying it, and looked infinitely better this morning. Needless to say, I was surprised by this but very pleased.
I also LOVE the texture...very lightweight and it absorbs super quickly. I will most likely continue to use this or the regular ANR over the rest of the year and see how it performs. |

I signed up for their newsletter and got an offer code for a free 10 day supply of the regular ANR with a $35 purchase from http://www.esteelauder.com/ but there may be better bonuses elsewhere.
code: FIRSTORDER0412 (there was no shipping charge) |

I recommended the EL ANR Concentrate to a few friends who had over done peels RA ect. after Riley's results, and every single one had amazing improvement almost immediately. All have thanked me and Riley (not that I mentioned her name) profusely for saving their damaged skin! |

I had amazing improvement on my face superfast, but my chest area was not quite as open minded as of yet...I am still having to use cortisone cream tonight to help with the welts and itching.
So I think it works in some instances, but not all. But I am sure that my chest will respond to it as well once I get the histimine reaction under control. |

Oh, yes I don't think it would get welts and itching under control. I had an unknown (reason) attack of hives that lasted over a year about11 years ago and the only thing that stopped my hives and itching was both Zyrtec and Zantac daily?
Yet for a damaged barrier it seems that it works wonders for those I know of! |

Yeah! I am glad it worked. I still use the ANRC whenever my skin gets irritated or red. It works wonders on the redness. (The other product that works great on redness is Chantecaille's Jasmine and Lily Mask, which I use as a leave on cream (thanks jom!) for redness.) |

Reading this thread has convinced me that I need to get onto the ANR Concentrate. I used the ANR religiously once upon a time - both morning and night and my skin loved this product.
However, I stopped using department store products upon the advice of my skin specialist who cautioned me about the fillers and preservatives used in these products as she felt these types of ingredients may have been making my skin irritated and reactive. I feel she was correct to some degree because the sensitivities, irritations and redness I frequently experienced did vanish once I switched to using Osmosis Skincare (she does not sell these products by the way). |

Maybe using it 2x day was too often? |

Since so many are having great results after peels, Darkmoon, do you think this would be the same if used after PMD? Or perhaps only use right after that for the absorbtion? |

I have considered buying some even though I never have had any issues even with fairly strong glycolic peels (fell asleep with one on before). I have not tried it yet but a few here have after having issues and so have the friends I recommended it to and all have had great results. I am thinking if it works so well on compromised skin, it may do a lot of good for normal skin! |
