Hi there! I would like to try the JI powder foundation, I currently use BE 2 in the winter 2.3 in the summer, yellow undertones. I love BE but would like to have a choice between a bit of shine and a more matt finish, I also use BE mineral veil but can't help but wonder if JI would be all I need.

I've looked at the EDS JI section but it's really hard to tell from the swatches.

Thank you! Annette Smile

Hi Lolli / Annette,

You're in luck as I'm one of the users who has switched from BE to JI.

I used a 2.3 in BE. #2 was too light; and #3 was too dark. It seems that you may be a tad lighter than I am because you use a #2 in the winter.

Here's what I suggest:

1. I use Jane Iredale's loose powder in Warm Sienna. (I say loose because some people say the pressed powder formulas don't always match the loose powder colors of the same name . . . just an FYI; not sure if this is true or not).

2. I would also suggest AMBER -- that is one shade under Warm Sienna and might suit your skin tone if you are a tad lighter than me.

3. Warm Sienna and Amber are both yellow-based -- I'm Asian so I need the yellow undertones in the make up.

4. I definitely think Warm Sienna or Amber will work well for you given that you are a 2.3 in the summer time.

JI has a more matte finish than BE, which is the main reason I chose to change. JI also doesn't accentuate the pores on my face and doesn't look as "flaky" as BE did. You can use JI foundation alone or you can top it off with mineral veil or JI's matte powder or any "finishing powder" of your choice (but it's not necessary).

Hope this helps!

I would suggest trying some samples before purchasing. skin-etc.com sells them for $3 US.

I found the amber to be very yellow, and I definitely have yellow undertones.

Thanks, Lianne I went to skin-etc.com and the samples look great except they say,

"We ship Jane Iredale products only to customers within the United States or to customers in countries that are not currently serviced by an exclusive Jane Iredale distributor."

I'm in Canada so I won't be getting any samples. I did find a sample seller on eBay though. Smile I woudn't pay $48 plus tax and shipping on a foundation unless I tried a colour or two first.

Hi Annette -- good luck trying out the different shades! Do let me know how they turn out -- if you have trouble getting colors, let me know. I can send you some warm sienna somehow; might take a while getting to Canada, but it's not impossible! Smile

One more thing! You can ask EDS for samples (if they have the colors in stock). They're in Canada so they will likely be able to ship to you Smile

Thanks Lisa! You're a doll! Smile I was just looking at eBay but would rather get it within Canada, it's quicker. I never thought to just as the spa if they had what I'm looking for, thanks for mentioning it, I will email them directly. Annette

FYI - you can order samples of JI loose or pressed foundations fromwww.skin-etc.com for $3 per sample plus a flat S&H fee of $5 (no matter how many samples you order). This website also has a helpful page that describes the different color families (warm, cool, neutral) and how to tell which shade or family would work best on you. Best of all, Skin-etc.com takes international credit cards and/or paypal and ships internationally. If you are unable to find a JI retailer in your area for you to actually go to to try on the shades before you buy, then Skin-etc.com is definitely the 2nd best way to go because looking at the on-line swatches isn't really going to be much help!

The foundation samples are about the size of a BE eyeshadow, so you actually get quite a lot of product to play around with...After discovering my shades (I was a BE#3 and use JI pressed in Warm Silk and Amber), I now carry the sample in my purse for touchups.

HTH,
Carrie

So, skin-etc.com does send to Canada?

I emailed EDS they don't have samples but will recommend a shade.

I could also email skin-etc about shipping if I'm unsure.

The eBay loose powder samples are 1 tsp each, I think I will need a bit more than that. Smile The skin-etc one sound like the best bet. Thank you everyone! Smile Annette

Lolli,

I live in Canada and I've made a few orders from skin-etc.com with jane iredale products! The last was the end of december.

You can email them first to double check. I can't remember if that is new or not...but I'd definitely give it a try, as they are the only ones I have found with samples.

Lolli - if Lianne is right and she had no probs ordering JI from skin-etc.com, you can just completely disregard the PM I just sent you!!! Confused Lord, this is getting confusing.

carrie,

I just can't remember if that note was on the site last time I ordered or if it is something new.

I find them pretty good at skin-etc. You don't have to worry about getting charged duties which is nice.

I ordered from skin-etc when it had the note and my order arrived in Canada in less than two weeks. They are missing one of the samples I want to try or I would order again from them.

YOU GUYS RULE!!!! Smile Thank you so much, every one!!!!

That is an awesome website, I really see the variations in shades and the shipping is so reasonable. Thanks for the duty charge info, Lianne, the duties from the States are really a pain, aren't they?

I'll let you know how it goes. Annette Smile
