I was wondering what people thought of "new age" beauty treatments? I guess I would be meaning things live visualization, reiki, crystals etc.

For example a woman on youtube has a video on giving yourself a magical face lift using reiki type energy. You can get facials with rose quartz massage and buy skin care which has been infused with crystal energy.

Also many people use things like visualization to try and improve how they look.

What do you think of this, any possible truth in it?

I think there is some truth to it, and one of the most popular ones I heard about a little while ago was the Reiki Face Lift. They're apparently putting together a dvd, but its not available just yet but when it is I'm definitely going to get it!

I agree that they might be useful if you are that way inclined in the first place. Not to say I am planning on giving up my Retin A for reiki facials and rose quartz but I think I'd be interested in trying them as an extra add on to my normal skincare. Forgot to mention accupunture, I'd love to try that for my skin!

I dont think you should give up Retin A (being a retin A user for the past 30 plus years I never would dream of doing so) but I don't think that they are completely incompatible with each other.

Whats the rose quartz suggestion? Missed that one.

In my post I was saying I wouldn't be giving up my retin a! I may be gullible but I'm not stupid!

Rose Quartz is sopposed to be good for skin issues and beauty. I've seen facials advertised where they use it for massaging the face or they charge facial products with it. In a book I read years ago suggested putting a rose quartz into your jar of face cream!

You can also make gem elixiers by putting the stone in water for a while to let it infuse and then drinking it. Take care as some stones are toxic!

There is also that jade facial roller which was popular here in the UK a while ago, I got one of ebay but don't use it much. Still it is a nice thing to have.

Hello Pandora,

Why don't you use your jade facial roller much?
Were you disappointed with the results?
TIA

I have a jade roller from a few years ago too, and the small end of it fell apart but the larger end is great and I still use it ocassionally but should do it more. Why did you stop using it? I just like the coldness. It used to be used daily when I was having hot flushes as it did cool me down!

Holmes and Theresa,

I wasn't unhappy with the jade roller at all it was very nice to use but at that time my problem was more with acne and the roller didn't seem to help with that. Also I am not sure I was really "doing it right" however I will start using it again at some point.

I think there is some truth to it. Allot of the New Age stuff has to do with relaxation and healing the body through the use of it. I also agree it would be a nice add on, something to try, if it does work great but if it dosent then at least you know it dosent.

The use of placing a gem into water and it making an elixir is also worth trying because it will never run out, just like skincare devices... That's how Ive justified all my device purchases the simple fact that unlike products which run out after generally three months devices dont, once you buy it you will always have it unless it breaks. If it does break you will generally have had it for a decent amount of time to know it was a better purchase than a product.

It's probably going to become a huge fad, but can definitely say it's one I'm looking forward to.

I dilute my Copper Peptide with water in an old flower essence bottle; I think it has good vibes sure.
