I use Chanel in black. Nice everyday mascara, does not smudge, washes easily with water. So far my favorite.

Also have Diorshow in purple. Love the way it makes my eyelashes fluffy but smudges heavily. Also the color is to intense and not for everyday use.

Dior ultimeyes in black. Similar to chanel but aslo gives me big black circles under eyes at the end of the day.

I always use waterproof because of horrible under eye smudges. Most waterproof do it too, the best so far has been max factor aqua lash.

I have tried few waterproof mascaras and find them very difficult to take off. The area around eyes is very delicate and I hate rubing it.

Skybaby,
In one of the threads you wrote that you had to stop using it because your eyelashes fell out in some places.
That sound scary. Did you go back to this mascara?

Yes, I went back to this mascara. I really love it. I just try alternate once in a while with Maybelline Sky High Curves (waterproof). I think that happened because I had been using the mascara for years and probably tugged too much when removed.

How hard do you need to tug to remove it? I thought it comes off easily.

It does come off easily. Kind of hard to explain, but I just think it was from using the same mascara for so long.

Kiss Me Mascara is the ONLY mascara I use to do my lower lashes - doesn't really do much for my upper, but by using it on my lower, I have never gotten raccoon eyes - and I used to get them with EVERY other mascara I tried, and I tried 'em all!!!!

The latest mascara I am using and it is WONDERFUL is Shiseido Lasting Lift mascara - my stick straight lashes stay curled ALL day (honest!) and no smudgies. Not the easiest to get off however, but I find that plain ol' Maybelline eyemake-up remover in the blue bottle does the trick and it's cheap!!!

Kiss me is a cinch to get off with soap and water - they come off in little tubes. Kinda strange, but don't know how to describe.

I hate buying mascara because I've never been thrilled to death with any one mascara. I think I've tried everything - including that Mavala Eye Light Double Lash ( which doubled nothing...) I guess it doesn't help that I've always been lash-challenged! Anyways, the ones I hate the one least are: Dior Long Optic for every day...and for extra drama - DiorShow and MAC Fiber Lash Smile

I know the soap and water makes some cringe, but if you can believe it, I have been using Dove soap to wash my face since I was about 14 years old. I have never had a problem with it drying my skin or causing anything bad to happen to it. (now watch my face fall off next week b/c I just said that!) I could never use other soaps, not even Ivory, but for some reason Dove does the trick. I also use Yonka, but I go sparingly as it is a tad more expensive.

Ah! One of my favorite topics -- the quest for the perfect mascara!

The best I've ever used is Kevyn Aucoin's Volume Mascara (Black). It coats evenly without clumping, stays on all day and doesn't come off under my eyes (and EVERY other non-waterproof mascara I've ever tried has left me with raccoon eyes by noon). The best thing is that it comes off with water -- it just rolls right off! No morning residue, no black goop in the corners of my eyes. Wonderful! The brush is thin and narrow -- perfect for getting into corners and building up thin lashes.

The only down side is that it's pricey -- $25. I stopped using it for awhile and tried others (from Laura Mercier to Maybelline -- I just don't see why so many people love Great Lash . . .) and went back to Kevyn Aucoin again. Nothing else compares, IMHO.

kpka,

I tried the curling mascara once and didn't like it as well as the Volume formula. I don't remember exactly why, to tell you the truth -- I think it was that it didn't wash off as well.

I use Benefit's Bad Gal. I love it. Washes off easy (but stains face-washers! Confused ) and doesn't give me raccoon eyes either.

I find most masacaras irritate my eyes, you name them I've tried 'em, well, nothing too outrageous but I've tried Clinique, Este Lauder, MAC, drug store brands.

The only two that don't irritate are Mary Kay Shock Endless (I wouldn't recommend anything else of theirs though, it's all mineral oil and in my experience that's not good for the skin) and Kiss Me doesn't irritate either. MK adds more volume and doesn't smudge, the Kiss Me would be perfect if it added more volume and length, simply too cool that it doesn't smudge or leave black on your face at all while removing. The black residue can't be good, even if it looks clean, KWIM? Annette

Not very exotic, but I always find L'Oreal's Double Extend gives me the best lashes.
I also like ( another one that washes off in water like little tubes that encase your lashes) one from an Australian company called Mirenesse called Secret Weapon Mascara.

I took a tip from an early topic on this forum and tried Rimmel this past July. I love the fact that it comes off so easily and yet never smudges under my eyes.

I sing for a living - under spotlights most of the time - every sweaty job. I haven't smudged since I found Rimmel.

Also, I think it cost me about $2, if you can believe it!
