Hi there,
I'm very new (1st post) to this board and can't believe I've only just discovered it. I understand it must be frustrating to answer similar questions but I've been googling and searching for advice and still am unsure about exactly what I should be doing with my skincare. I'm a bit like a fish outa water..so to speak.
The products I use are listed below, and I am hoping you could advise me with what I'm doing wrong and how I can improve on it:
AM/PM I am currently using the praoctiv 3 step system:
Toner has glycolic acid and cleanse and repair lotion contains benzoyl peroxide.
I'm 37 yrs of age but always suffered with breakouts, combination oily/dry skin and proactiv has been the only thing to improve my skin so I prefer to stick to this. However I need to start thinking of anti ageing products & products good for large pores (mediterranean skin you see) etc
So I also use Vitamin C serum and retinol products from Medik8 (I also have a bottle of alpha-h 50/50 Retol/Vitamin E serum) and have purchased the rejuvinating cream from Alpha-h which contains glycolic acid 10%, VitC, and other moisturising properties. I also have a jar of emergin C hypervitaliser cream and I also never leave the house without my Invizible zinc sun protection. So please can you advise me how and when to use these products following my proactiv 3 step? I'm just so confused? I have all these products and dont know how to use them. Ugh!!
Sorry for the essay & I hope I havn't confused you too |

i've recently started using the Obagi-C line
it's working great so far for me - the viatmin c is really helping clear acne fast and i hope it prevents as well
they have a whole system to use which is simple and i'm sure all the products compliments each other and will help with anti - aging as well
worth a dry to look into for you |

Thankyou for responding. I will definitely look into the Ogabi range. I've noticed others recommend it too. But for now I'll probably need to finish the products I have, and my main issue is I'm confused about which order I should use them in and if these products don't 'sabotage' each others effects.
Also sorry for my spelling....not a very good 1st impression is it? LOL
Thanks so much |

First off it's great to hear you have a hydrating serum application after the proactive toner will stop your skin from getting to dry (but wont make it oily) and accelerating the aging process.
You have most of the beneficial anti-aging actives in your night time routine. Medik8 is a great brand. You might want to look further into adding more possibly proven anti-aging actives into your regime, see http://www.smartskincare.com/treatments/topical/ do you use any devices? As high frequency sounds like it would benefit your skin, we use it in the spa after waxing to stop some customers from breaking out after treatment. These devices can be purchased online at an affordable price. |

Thankyou for replying. My acne is well under control now. I think I've stuck to proactiv more out of being too scared to stop in case it comes back again. LOL
The only really "annoying" things about my skin right now is I have some darker patches/scaring from previous pimples that I popped& I also have a wax burn mark on my upper lip thats been trying to heal itself. Once upon a time I had very "tough" skin. I put it through so much and it always healed very quickly. Now its become quite reactive and I have to be more careful.
I don't actually use any devices? Im not sure what would be recommended? Also are there any products you would recommend from proven anti aging actives that you mention?. |

I do allot of DIY when it comes to products so my recommendations are limited but Isomers is a very respectable brand when it comes to anti-aging. They have all there ingredients lists available on the website (which is always a good sign) check the ingredient lists to make sure your not purchasing anything with allot of oil in it.
As for devices, I personally dont use the Dermawand but have heard excellent things about it. It's the portable version of the high frequency machines used in spas. It will help with both anti-aging and break outs. |
