I was on obagi for about 10 weeks and stopped because my husband and I decided to try and start a family. Because I've stopped with the tretinion, my face is breaking out with cyst-like acne.
Right now, I'm just using over the counter moisturizer but need to get in control of my acne and skin.
Can anyone suggest a some products that will be safe for acne care and just regular daily skin care? Something that I cause use, pre, during, and post pregnancy. Thanks! |

Cystic acne is very difficult to treat under normal circumstances. Since its so deep most topicals dont really effect it.
Can you get to a derm? Finacea is pregnancy safe and many find that it does help with acne. Your other options would be AHA, not BHA. BP is questionable some dr's say its ok others say no. |

Hi Luckylady,
I'm sorry to hear about your post-Obagi acne. I also agree that cystic acne is difficult to treat topically and that your best bet would be to speak to a derm or your ob-gyn.
It would definitely be great if you could get the acne under control prior to pregnancy. It would be one less thing to think about. |

All this acne is making me depressed. I've never had problem with acne and now my chin looks like it has chicken pox.
I was watching Dr OZ and he said the way to pop puss filled pimples is to stick a needle in and out like you're sewing. This will tear the skin and then you can squeeze the puss out. So I have to admit, with the pain and pressure with each zit, I've been doing this. It not only sounds bad, it looks bad. I put neosporin on hoping it will help.
I've started taking prenatal vitamins and it makes me wonder if the combination of taking the pills and stopping the tretinion is having this effect on me. |

Please DO NOT do this with cystic acne. The acne is too deep and all you will do is more damage. You will have scarring from doing this.
That advice on the Dr Oz show did not apply to cystic acne and really only applied if the pimple had a white head. |
