Exfoliation using epidermx or simelar is a good idea as that will help even tone and thicken the skin. I'd also recommend using a vitamin C serum. This increases collagen production and also evens out skin tone. Peels such as Glycolic are also good, but it is better to do 10 peels of 8% for a couple of weeks, rather than one 70% peel. You get the same results but without the potential skin damage ...and I speak from experience here!
Finally, use sunblock or sunscreen. If your fit and your diet is good, then uneven skintone is likely to have been caused by sundamage. Sunblock will protect your skin and your tone will even out. This will not happen overnight, you need a couple of months!
