Okay, all...I'm new here. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and find you all to be delightful, helpful, and educational!!!!
However, you are all going to make me go broke and in turn make my husband have a stroke!! (There's a rhyme in there somewhere!) I read with aplomb your reviews of things from skincare to minerals, and the next thing I know, the credit card is out and I'm ordering! Fun, fun, fun to get stuff!!
So here's where I'm at.....Have sun spots on my face from years of "Hey, let's lie in the sun from 10a.m. to 2:00p.m.!!! We'll be bronze and beautiful!!!" Fast forward to the big 4-0 and my reward was cheek spots. Sigh.
Here's what I now have sitting in front of me. If someone will kindly enlighten me on which order these should go on my face, I would be much obliged.
Your new friend from New England (U.S.) Maria
Ready?
Superskin lightening gel (for the hyperpigmentation)
Cellex C (they sent me a cute sample, but didn't know if I should include it in my skin regimen? Too much stuff?
AlphaDerma C (for wrinkles, crows feet, etc.)
Oil of Olay Regenerist serum (make my skin soft before moisturizer - don't even know if it works for the other stuff it claims to - haven's seen any results)
Skinceut....sunscreen
Skinceut Emolliance (moisturizer)
There you have it!!! Also have been experimenting w/ Minerals. Have tried (and failed) with Jane (nice product - nasty bismouth rash), Youngblood (something about it was just not right for me), Mineral Secrets (great color HUGE itchies!!!), AL (not enough coverage maybe?) Monave (still using, but kinda drying on my already dry skin...waiting for samples from Geografx and Cory.
Thank you all!!!!!!!! |

Maria,
I don't know. I am a big fan of simplifying the skincare regimen. Often times the very products that we apply for a specific problem are the ones causing that (or another) problem.
I firmly believe that the skincare order should go:
1. Cleanse
2. Tone (only if you are oily)
3. Treat/Repair (specialized treatments)
4. Moisturize
What cleanser are you using?
Judging from your repertoire of products, I would suggest the following order:
1. Cleanse
2.Cellex C (great for the skin - any active Vitamin C complex, but I have heard great things about Cellex.)
3. Lightening gel (not before going into the sun if it is hydroquinine - use only at night)
4. Alpha Derma
5. Sunscreen as your moisturizer in the day, emolliance at night.
I'd skip the Oil of Olay, but it's up to you. If you like it under your moisturizer, then go ahead.
The vitamin C treatment over time should really help with the sun spots. In the mean time - sunblock, sunblock, and more sunblock! Add a drop of bronzer to it if you need some color - that always perks me up! I am addicted to Chanel Brilliance!
Best of luck,
Padme |

Thank you so much!!!! You're right, I would love to eliminate a product or two from the morning routine, but I'm determined to at least lighten the spots.
Nope, will not use HQ to treat them. Heard too many not so good stories about it. It's an azelic/kojic serum from Super Skin.
Maybe I will skip the Oil of Olay...
Cleansing is just cetaphil or dove (been using dove for at least 20 years)
I'm really dry so I don't use toner.
Chanel Brilliance you say? Oh Dear...I feel my wallet getting ready for some more action!
Thanks for the advice!

Hi and welcome
How long have you been using the regenerist for? Just that I was thinking of switching to that from strivectin as they both contain pentapeptide 3 which is supposed to promote collagen production |

Hi There!!!
Well at least the Regenerist is a whole heck of a lot cheaper than the Strivectin!!! But who am I to talk as I just coughed up $99 to try Alpha Derma-C!!!
The Regenerist makes your skin very soft, but to be honest, I haven't seen one bit of change in tone or lessening of the ol' lines.
I was using it under my old moisturizer (Lancome), but now I'm on a new moisturizer (Skinceuticals Emolliance) so I don't even think I need the extra under it as it's pretty hydrating. I'm going to try tomorrow without it.
: ) Thanks for the welcome. This forum is GREAT!

The palmitoyl pentapeptide in the Regenerist has to be at least 4% according to Dr. Graf for it to have any effect. Considering where it is located in the list of ingredients - well, it probably is not 4%. Guapagirl, I think Isomers sells a Matrixyl Serum that has the percentage listed. You might do a search on that. Or just Matrixyl and see what you get back. |

Being the beauty junkie that I am I like my routine quite complicated. In fact, having just started to use Alphaderma CE (and the peptide gel or something like that) myself, I am doing my best to try to figure out how I can still incorporate my fave products in with it (I want the best of both worlds!)
I'm still using vit C every other day (I manage to do this when I get home from work and have a shower - then wash that off at night and use other stuff )I am also using Cellex-C vitC eye gel in the mornings. I find that I don't need much moisture over the Alph CE but I do use a bit of Valmont Bio Cellular High Performance Serum at night for an added moisture boost. And of course, SPF during the day. And also Bright Eyes serum over the Cellex-C vitC eye gel in the morning, and Bright Eyes followed by Babor Sensational Eyes eye cream at night. That's what I've been doing the last few days, knowing myself I'm sure I'll vary it soon ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/rolleyes.gif) |

Ooh, Mabsy, your routine sounds luscious!!
Tell me more about this "Bright Eyes" that you're using....I think I forgot to include my eyecream of the moment....Believe it or not, it's a Mary Kay product called Timewise for Eyes, and I gotta tell ya, it's not bad!!! Emolliating yet not greasy - again, I was using Lancome eyecream, but I don't think Lancome is doing it for me anymore - especially since I've discovered the skinceuticals line -- really do like that!
Definitely don't need the Regenerist now that I'm using the Emolliance...
My goal is to try and not buy anything else until my new stuff is gone. Ha-Ha!! I could barely type that with a straight face! We'll see how long I can go before the urge to splurge hits me again! I love skincare stuff!!!!

Hi Maria,
Sorry, my mistake, it's actually called Eye Bright Oopsy, I wonder how long I have been calling it by the wrong name It's the eye serum fromwww.CellularSkinRx.com and has Hyaluronic Acid in it so I'm using it as a moisture booster over the vit C (which I find drying - particularly around the eye area). The Eye Bright is supposed to be good for dark circles as well. I haven't noticed much but it is a good hydrating serum for under the eyes.
As far as eye creams go, I think I have three favorites at the moment. The first (and one I will ALWAYS love) is Cellcosmet Eye Contour Cream. Pricy but worth it! Then there is the Babor Sensational Eyes (I also bought the gel but have not tried this yet) and Murad Essential-C (this one has SPF15).
I have a similar goal to yours (and a bathroom rapidly running out of space) but I find that I have to "renew" the goal every few weeks when I cave and buy something...

Alas, I have already been defeated in my goal to not buy anything until my new stuff is gone. I just purchased the Skinceuticals Hydra B-5 gel.....It wasn't my fault. It was early and I was groggy. I think I'll use this in place of the Olay Regenerist. That's a good trade, huh? A $17 product for a $55 product? I must be nuts.
When I rec'd my Alpha Derma C, I got a flyer that said if I purchased it, I'd get a free sample of the eye serum - Okusil? I emailed Janson-Beckett - but they haven't gotten back to me and it's been over a week. Did anyone else see this? (I paid the regular price for the Alpha Derma as I joined the board after Ian's little promo).
Have a great day!

I think I might be making an EDS order this week.... I might just blame it on the ol' "finger slipped because I didn't have my morning coffee"
I think the Okusil offer is listed on their website. You should give them a call and ask about it.

Thanks, Mabsy....That's my next step - giving them a jingle.
Today, I get to spend money on my darling 11 year old for back to school shopping....Hello Gap, Hello Old Navy!
Have a great day!

Wow....Cindy, that post seems like eons ago now! I just re-read it myself.
Let's see, still have the sunspots but they have lightened a bit from using Skinceuticals Vitamin c+e and their Phyto + gel. Also, I'm in winter face mode where they are most definitely lighter.
I'm still using ADCE, which I do like, never did get the Okusil.
Still using the Regenerist, but add Skinceuticals B5 gel to it and that makes my face feel so soft especially with this ridiculous cold weather in New England.
I stopped using the lightening gel, did nothing for me. Went on an rx called "Triluma" that had 4% HQ in it, but it dried my skin out and made it all crepey, so now that is in my graveyard drawer (although I do think it may have helped.) Ian at Janson Beckett sent me a couple of samples of lightening products that I'm going to start trying next week, and he's pretty sure they'll help.
Still using Skinceuticals Emollience, but really love the Rosa y Fruta Ambrosia creme when my skin is extra dry from the weather.
Also, I am thinking of giving the Epidermx a try when money allows. I've got soooo much stuff to finish off first, then I think I'm going to order that. Deb (sassyred) has been incredibly helpful with my questions on that product as well.
So that's where I'm at!!!!
