I want a good foundation but i have dry skin and want to use a liquid foundation as powders dry out my skin even more! I've tried the minerals (my mum has them, she's loopylori) and don't like them so any recs for a good coverage, dewy foundation would be appreciated, cheers Very Happy

actually some of the foundations for older skins you may like, as they tend to be well suited to dry skins, I have the opposite problem to you but both my mum and I like the Lancome colour ID.

I suggest you raid your department store and get samples. If you don't want a heavy foundation Benefit do Benetint which is a dewy tinted moisturiser.

and welcome!

I think the BeneFit stuff is called 'You Rebel'. I've never tried it but the reviews on MUA are not very good.

What brands have you already tried?

I like the MAC liquid foundations. You can get a sheer or a heavy coverage. I find the heavy too fake looking though.

I aside from MAC I like Prescriptives....

Have you thought about a tinted moisturizer at all?

I don't know what is wrong with the minerals myself. Also she has a beautiful clear even complexion and does not need foundation. Thats my unbiased opinion.

Then she probably just needs a tinted moisturizer..Has she tried the dermalogica or Dr H ones at all? (not sure if you use these or have samples of them)

I love the liquid minerals!!!
What didn't she like about it? The only thing I could see is that it may cling to her dry patches a bit...or that she's gotta move quick to blend well.

I am 43 with dry skin and love dewy/radiance. I like chanel Vitalumiere in liquid or cream (for very dry skin) I also like Chantecaille future skin but it is more matte, don't let the oil-free scare ya with this one.

I use to review foundations for cosmeticconnection.com My name is Debbie (under panelists) and there is one that is 13 foundations? there is another but it is listed somewhere else...

I love dewy radiance! Oh Smashbox liquid isnt' bad either! especially mixed with the luminizing liquid in the white (forgot name?) Very Happy

I too have dry skin and love the dewy look. I have tried everything as I my skin is light so I have a hard time matching colors.

3 I like

Belive it or not Clinique Almost Makeup (has a SPF of 15)slightly heavier than a tinted moisturizer.

Again Clinique City Block Sheer Tint (for summer) SPF15

Becca Luminous Color

I have very dry skin too and I love Lancome Photogenic Ultra Confort (the dry skin version of Photogenic) It's one of my all time favourite foundations (ERA aerosol foundation is my fave).

I have been recommended to try Armani Hydra Glow though so I'm going to try a sample of it next time I'm passing an Armani beauty counter.

Have you tried the liquid version of the mineral foundations at all? That gives a more dewy result and the coverage is buildable.

If you don't need much coverage (most of use think we need more coverage than we actually do, I've been guilty of that for years Rolling Eyes ) then I would suggest a tinted moisturiser or just a very light foundation to give you a hint of colour and coverage.

Good TMs:

Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisture SPF15
Murad Oil-Free sunblock (some don't like the smell of this)
adding Dr Hauschka Bronzing Concentrate to any moisturiser

Good light foundations:
Tarte Smooth Operator
Clinique Almost Makeup
Chanel Voile Universel
Pudoodles

you gals are so lovely. Thanks for advice.
We will try to get some samples of the above mentioned products. Nat has been wanting to try the Armani but we cannot find anywhere that sales it. I am reluctant to buy a liquid foundation online without knowing the correct colour. Although I did buy minerals without knowing if the shade I chose was right.

Ignore my annoying mother she's being silly!lol I don't like the minerals she has because as you said, they do accentuate my dry patches and i do not like powder foundations anyway. Thanks for the recs and advice Smile

Nat, can I suggest you give the minerals another go after you have tried this...
Cleanse your skin using a balm cleanser...boots time delay do a fantastic one! Alternatively, olive oil is also a good cleanser and you can add some rose oil as well.
Exfoliate using a mix of manual (cloth or scrub) and chemical peels ...a 10% glycolic acid solution should be ok, but don't do both types at the same time!
Use a C serum and then top it off with an HA serum ...either relaxaline, or be nice to your mummy and get her to order you some HA serum from dianayvonne Wink
Follow with whatever moisturiser you like most.
My skin used to flake off so that I used to use vaseline as a moisturiser, because my skin was so dry. After using C serums and skinceuticals B5 gel (has a lot of HA in it), my skin is now not dry and is pretty much normal. I think that it is the combo of C and HA that has done the trick. I wear mineral make up and have NO dry flaky bits for it to stick to and it looks invisible.
Whatever foundation you go for, if you treat the dry skin issue, then your foundation is gonna look a whole lot better! Smile

Mini-me is wanting to sign up to this forum as well...maybe we could have a separate thread for them, so they don't know how much time we really spend here! Laughing
