I was watching Racheal Ray and she had this lip plumper thing on her show. It's called Luscious lips...the site is: http://www.cynthiarowland.com/product_list_ll.php

Has anybody used this before? I saw that it actually worked...but if it only works for a couple of hours what's the point?

Hi cortigirl

I have a similar tool, which I bought about 8 years ago, called Lip Plumper, and still going strong. Although it doesn't have the cream as the Luscious Lips. I should look more into the cream, maybe it will be a benefit.

The instructions for my tool was to prime the lips over a five/seven days. Then use as instructed. I use mine twice a day which keep my lips plump.

Hope this helps.

I am absolutely astonished on how big your lips get using this! Although i'm aware it's for a short time but it's still pretty cool! I do a lot of photo shoots so something like this would actually be quite awesome! I think i'm going to purchase this as it's cheap enough. The way i see it as, is i put lip plumper gloss on 5 times a day what's wrong with using this 2 times a day lol.

I found that it worked so much better than any gloss I've used. Lips are given are far more plumped look.

Be careful though and don't get overzealous with the pumping action and don't hold with your lips in the device too long, as it can cause bruising of the lips.

Don't know if you know how it works, but as you draw your lips in the pump the blood rushes to the surface.

I just got a picture in my mind of what i'd look like if I went all crazy and did it for 10 minutes haha!! Omg..that would just be hilarious.

I was reading the website and it says that you should start out slowly..and work up, etc etc. I wouldn't do it for longer then they suggest for sure.

Well, it's definitely better then getting injections! I wish I could afford 600+ every 3-6 months to get those done!

I would love to try this, cause God knows, I need all the help I can get in the lip department, but here's the 'doubt' that keeps me from trying it.

If something works great and gives awesome, but temporary results, the tendency (for me anyway) would be to use it very often, to keep that nice puckered look...So wouldn't this constant swelling, shrinking and swelling over and over result in the now stretched out skin sagging? I'm especially thinking this would be an issue for someone my age, where elasticity is already a concern..

I'm soooo on the fence, and need a push Laughing

Hey Kassy!

Have you checked out the site i posted at the beginning of the thread? They have so many cool things for making your skin look young and amazing. They have these gloves which you can use to do facial exercises. It makes sense really...it's like muscles in your arms. If you don't work them out they are going to sag whether we like it or not! I also wouldn't mind trying that Suzanne Summers thing...it was on the shopping channel a few days ago. It was also shown on the Ellen show today.

Back to the lips, it gives you instructions on how to use it and how long to do it for. So as long as you follow their instructions everything will be fine. Maybe you should send them an email asking about your concerns. But I don't think it would cause any problems.

Hey Cortigirl, thanks for your response. I did look at the link, and I actually have the facial magic exercise program she developed..(Many of the exercises seem to be similar to some of the ones I saw on the web for FlexEffect in fact.)....But I haven't even thought about, or used it in years..

Luckily my skin is already in great shape from other devices, so I'll pass on SS. (I actually tried that a while ago, and tossed it) but the lip plumping thing sounded interesting..

Now that I had a look at the link, it seems like a vacuum cleaner hose, would do the same thing...EEEK!

I'll definitely follow the thread to see how everyone likes it..Hopefully we'll get to see a few before and after pictures here as well. It's a really interesting concept.....

What will they think of next?

I also saw on Racheal Ray yesterday these acrylic teeth you can put on your own smile (if you have bad teeth). So it makes you look like you have vaneers. It's not permanent and it's worth 1100 bucks. That to me is a complete waste of money!! Especially when here in Canada you can get invisalign for 4500 bucks only!

About your skin, how old are you? I'm 24. Any tips on keeping your skin looking beautiful besides the sunscreen, drinking lots of water...good skin care regime, etc? I want my face to look like Suzanne Summers when i'm 62!! Smile

Btw, there are before and after pictures on that site which show you their lips after the suction.

I'm 56 (check out the signatures, lots of people have their age listed!)

Your well on your way to keeping your skin young and beautiful with all the things your doing. I would add, to incorporate a vit C serum into your morning routine, and also a supplement of Ester-C, 1000mg per day.

As for Suzanne Somers, it's more than Face Master, keeping her looking her best! But it's in her interest, to give all the credit to her little gizmo.....Celebs always deny the real reasons for their youthfulness, but we know better!

I did see the before and after pictures, and the results look great!

Where do i find these "signatures"? Do you know of any good Vit C serums? I hear that not all work because it's not 100% vitamin c or something like that years ago. Like for example, the stuff at the body shop wouldn't do the same as something you'd get at the salon.

For those of you interested in the Luscious Lips - it sounds very similar in principle to skin cupping. Have a look at this:

If a person has a signature, you will find it at the very bottom of their post. If you would like to do one, go into your 'profile', and you can do it there.

As for Vitamin C serum, I make my own very easily and cheaply. If you want to buy a ready made one to try out, I would recommend the following. It won't break the bank, and it's a decent one;

http://cellbone.com/c15ie.htm

ETA: my 'signature' is directly under this line.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I have one of these gadgets, and I really like it. I think there's an ongoing discussion of this on the 'ultimate lip plumper' thread... they do work.

I have one too and it does work well, but the material is terrible quality and the dye (I guess?) from the plastic leaves a red ring around my mouth when I use it. So, while the size is convenient and portability was a big selling point, it's really impractical. Unless, of course, you also carry a sink and a washcloth with you when you're out, and have time to wipe off the red dye and fix your makeup during your quick 30 second touch-up. Rolling Eyes

For the price, they really could have used better quality plastic.

I have a white one that I think someone referred to earlier. I think its longer than the red one.

Mine is quite old though - at least 6/7 years. It still works - i just have to use water around the rubber ring at the end to make it slick.

Sometimes my lips will stay big for hours but usually it only lasts 30 minutes... I try to use it every day - but for the last 2 months not even close. I think there may have been a slight accumulative affect - not 100% on that. My lips do look a bit different and Im not doing anything else to them.

What is the treatment used with the device? Is it for the lips or the area around the lips where the device would be placed.

THANKS

When I bought mine (this would have June or so), the treatment being sold was for the lips themselves. But, I didn't buy it - the ingredients weren't impressive and most people gave it bad reviews. I don't think the cream is at all essential.

I think I read that others have had cumulative results, mb, so I wouldn't be surprised if you are getting that. I only used mine for a VERY short time, mainly because of the red dye leeching out and on to my face. For instance, reading this thread made me want to start using it again, but I've already washed my face and applied some jojoba oil, and if I use the LL I'll have to scrub around my mouth again.. not much fun when you have sensitive skin (and are lazy to boot!) If they had just used a different dye/better material... Rolling Eyes
I wonder why they stopped making the white one?

That's weird (and annoying!) about the red dye... mine is a red, clear plastic, and it doesn't leech color onto my skin at all. I got it last year. I didn't get any treatment cream.. it seemed overpriced and unimpressive.

The plumper device itself I really like... I generally do it morning and night. I, too, have verying effects... sometimes a long lasting plump, sometimes more short lived, but there is definitely a cumulative effect. Overall, my lips look better all around when I use it.

I've had both Restylane and Juvederm, and didn't really think either of them was all that worth it.. they didn't last well on me, and didn't justify the price, though the short term effects were nice.

Birdlove, mine is also a red, clear plastic, but the color comes off on everything. When I tried to disinfect it with alcohol there was all kinds of red color coming off on the cotton pad so afterwards I stuck to hot water, which still got color on it, but less. Even wiping it with a dry tissue rubs off some of the color, and I actually think using the alcohol messed up the finish a little bit.

That's interesting that yours doesn't do that - maybe I just got one from a bad lot, then?

I think the idea was brilliant - there are other devices that could give similar effects, but that she made one that was so portable, and sized just for the lips.. it's such a great idea, but the color leakage is just too much of a hassle for it to be practical. I may write to her (or, more likely, her customer service staff) and see if they have anything to say about it. Shoot, I might still have my order information; if they offer to send me a new one I'd definitely be a satisfied customer Smile

Yeah, I think it is worth writing to her about... I've cleaned mine with alcohol, and it didn't leech off the red even then (it did dull the clear finish a bit, but so what?)

Maybe the problem with the dye, or whatever it is, has been fixed.

The red transferring to skin would definitely kill any desire I had to use the thing, so I hear you on that one.

Good luck... I hope she replaces it for free.

I really like mine. I don't think the cream is necessary, but it does smell good.

I do find that the red dye comes off on my hands, but I love how this plumps my lips up & will continue to use it.
