Hello, hello. I have sensitive skin and a pesky simple near my nose. I was wondering what spot treatments users reccommend that don't dry out delicate skin. I'm hoping for something effective and safe because Benzoyl Peroxide, my normal go-to, is just too harsh. Thanks! |

Lightshox I don't know whether this is OK for sensitive skin, but when I've had a pimple I've found Benzoyl Peroxide pretty useless at healing it. However, salicylic acid, particular Acne Solutions Gel by Clinique works like a charm. I don't usually rub it in. I usually apply a dot or two of it over just the spot to cover it. I do this at bed time after washing my face (I sleep with a bare face). It burns a little and dries up shiny. I just let it be.
In the morning, when I splash my face with lukewarm water, it turns white and I usually have to use my nail to "peel" it off as it feels somewhat rubbery. I may see a dark mark over where the spot was or not much change after that first night. I just either ignore it or if I was one bothered by marks, I would use makeup to cover it for the day. Usually after the first night of treatment, the pimple appears somewhat flattened even with the darkening.
After a second night of this treatment, the pimple is usually flattened and in its place a dark mark whose border appears to be raising up a bit. The temptation is to peel it off but I give it one more night so that the skin heals better. By the morning after a 3rd night of treatment, the pimple is usually gone and the dark skin that was replacing it appears loose--like it's ready to shed--and so I just help it along by gently peeling it off to leave clear skin that matches the rest of my face with no hint whatsoever that a pimple ever existed.
I have tried other salicylic products like Neutrogena's Rapid Clear 2-in-1 but nothing works for me as well as the Clinique Acne Solution Spot Healing Gel.
