The vitamin C in the PM thread got me thinking.
I want to change my vitamin c to the PM now. I already use retin A in the PM. everything i have ever read about the long term benefits of retin a suggest daily (or nightly use).
but in the real long haul, would it not be better to use more than one active, consistently, even if its only every other day?
What are ya'll's thought on the matter? |

I think if you have used Retin A nightly for a year it is OK to start tapering off and using it every other night would be OK. It is my understanding that to reap the full benefits of RA you have to work up to using it every night and then use it every night for a year. After that is OK to change to every other night. |

Both Retin-A and vitamin C can form a reservoir in the skin so daily use is not always necessary, however you are likely to get the most benefit with the least side effects with the 'little and often' approach. At the end of the day these are the two actives with the strongest evidence base, so I would prioritise these in my routine only compromising if irritation is a concern. IMO we should leave prescription topicals to absorb and do their work, not layering on other actives in an experimental fashion. |

This is my understanding also. I think its fine to alternate or to use both if you have been using retin-a more then a year. |
