Is mandelic Acid better than Salicylic acid? Since Mandelic acid work as AHA and also BHA, so can I call Mandelic acid as a AHA&BHA combo?
Also, I would like to ask if dry skin user using Ma Ma Lotion? Will 20% Acid too strong for dry skin? |

I'd, also, like to know which is more effective at cleaning out pores. I'm using SA and Clarisonic but I STILL get congestion in my T-zone. Is it possibly to have clean pores in that area? |

Mandelic Acid (Mama Lotion) made my entire face and fingers peel after only 3 applications. I have thick skin and can tolerate almost anything but Mama lotion proved too strong for me. It also dried my skin considerably. |

I've had great success with MaMa Lotion. I suffer from combo/ acne prone skin and using ML every other night followed by a moisturizer has helped enormously. I had some peeling, nothing too troubling or that my moisturizer couldn't fix.
I'm very glad I incorporated it into my routine. It's a definite repurchase. A little goes a long way and it's cleared up my face tremendously. I used to use a BHA but have found the ML to be much better for me. Get a sample if you can to try it out before investing in the full size.
I think "better" is relative to the individual. Some find more success with AHA/BHA combo, some with other types of treatments. What works for me might not work for someone else and vice versa.
Also be careful not to over do the cleansing and treatment process. I found that I need to balance...if I don't treat well enough or forget to wash my face, etc. my face suffers for it. The same goes for overkill...if I put too many products on my face or apply ML every day, I break out because my skin kicks into over drive to counteract the fact I'm stripping my face too much. |

Hi ParisTroika,
Thx for the information, but one thing I want to know is does Ma Ma lotion help with blackheads? or Do you mainly use Ma ma lotion for peeling only? |

I use MaMa Lotion all over my face and it has kept my skin really clear. Considering I'm acne prone and I suffer (well, USED to suffer) from all types of acne, from blackheads to cystic acne, MaMa Lotion has worked on it all. It's like the all around product for me. It's evened out my complexion very nicely. I love that it helps with anti-aging AND my acne. It fabulous IMHO!
I copied this description of it from skinstore.com

This remarkable gel-lotion is the ultimate agent for those wanting to get more out of their anti-aging routines. This 20% AHA formulation contains 10% Mandelic acid and 10% Malic acid with a 2.5 ph. Because of the protective and moisturizing qualities of Malic acid, this lotion takes about 10-15 minutes to fully sink into the skin. A bit sticky at first, the MaMa Lotion will dry to an ultra smooth, glowing finish that will draw compliments throughout the day. Excellent for evening out pigmentation or softening feet and elbows as well.
Benefits:
* Evens out skin tone, including removing age spots & freckles.
* Fade acne scars and Melasma.
* Will significantly reduce acne breakouts.
* Tighten the skin & pores.
* Shrink or eliminate blackheads.
* Will reduce or erase fine lines and wrinkles.
* Significantly reduced the symptoms of Rosacea. |

Please note: Because of the potency of the product, it is important to test sensitivity in a small area. Remember to wash palms of hands after use in order to prevent peeling. MaMa Lotion should never be applied over or under a retinol, benzoyl peroxide or other AHA products. These products should be used on alternate days. A full spectrum sunscreen should always be worn during the day while using this product. |

I hadn't heard of it before either...happened to stumble across it on a website, checked reviews on MUA, and bought it to try it.
It's technically made by MCK Laboratories.
Here's the main website:

No, it's way too potent to use twice daily. You should start using it only twice a week until you work your way up to every other day. Some people can tolerate it every day, others no more than once or twice a week. It all depends on how your skin reacts. But I can't imagine using it more than once daily. I have fairly resilient skin but I had to go to every other day with this.
Here is a dermatologist's review of it.

I just tried the Mandelic(%15)/Salicylic(%15) peel combo from MUAC.
WOW, what a BITE. Not stinging - but warming that got warmer.. and warmer... and HOT. I think it was the salicylic that caused this? Maybe..
It was my first peel since the Dr. Gross Extra Strength pads, the first time I used them it stung like crazy and irritated my skin a bit(the pads are rough).
I had to wash off early for the Mandelic/Salicylic this time. Maybe next time I'll go longer. No sensitivity like I had with the Dr. Gross.
Now I'm scared to try the %12.5 TCA I ordered also, maybe someday. |

They both work to help clear pores, I suggest giving it a shot as what works for some may not work for others.
Just dont over do it |

I really like the Nucelle 10% mandelic lotion.
It is good for me and has not caused any redness.
You can buy small bottles of it,so you do not need to get the large 120ml bottle.
I'm only using that 2 or 3 times a week at night. |
