hello all,
I was just getting ready to order CSRx Vit C serum when I noticed it comes at 12%.
I will be using Vit C for the first time, so should I go for Vivier at 10% and then turn to CSRx 12%?
Does the 2 % difference matter?
I have dry and sensitive skin, I wouldnt want to do any damage by chosing too strong Vit C serum
THX!
Aga
BTW, thanks to everyone helpin me decide what to get |

Aga,
I started using vit. c with CS RX + 12%. I had no problems. What I like about it is not it is not drying. In fact when I put it on it feels a little oily. I like that because I don't need much and it glides over my skin. The oily feeling goes away very quickly as it absorbs into my combo mature skin. If you have dry, sensitive skin I truly believe this is a great Vit. C for you. I suggest for the first week to apply after cleansing every other day. The following week use it everyday. Now, I can even use it under my eyes. Perhaps 12% under eyes is not for everyone but it worked for me. I love this product. Since I began added this Vit C the one thing I love that has happened to my skin is the color. I know longer have a sallow tone to my skin. |

I may be wrong but isn't Vit C in cream completely useless as it doesn't have a shelf life? Unless you buy freshly made items with Vit C and use them within a couple of weeks, aren't they pointless? |

So I guess that the 2% isnt dramatically making a difference in the strenght of the serum
Thanks for replies btw!

If anyone knows different plmk as I was looking for some Vit C stuff myself, the only one I can find that might be OK is a Decleor one and you add the Vit C into a mixture but it has to be used within 10 days as the Vit C only lasts that long..... I believe. |

sarahb,
I know that vitamin c serums have different stabilities. I don't know much about how it works, but I think it has something to do with water content. I've read on here that CSRx, Vivier and Skinceuticals are more stable than cellex-c.
When it turns colour it's gone bad. |

Aga - IMO depending on how sensitive your skin is, even 10% might be too much (although it would be fine for most). But if your skin can handle a 10% then 12% shouldn't be too much of a stretch.
Sarahb - I used to think that about vit C creams but I'm now thinking that it really depends on the formulation/pH etc. I recently tried the PCA Skin vitamin C cream (Phase16 I think it's called) and that was very good. |

Is that true that when it turns color, it has gone bad? Because when I purchased the Cellex-C Advanced Eye Firming Cream (10%) (from another supplier, not from EDS), it was already a dark peach color. When I received the jar, it did not have any clear shrink-wrap seal around the lid? Does that mean it was never good? |

Sounds dodgy MystyPines, all products come with some element of sealing these days. Did you buy it off ebay or another auction site? |

mistypines,
I got a sample of cellex-c that was a peachy colour...maybe that's the colour of that particular brand? I'm going to look more into this..I swear I remember reading that somewhere on here... |

skinceuticals makes a 5% for eyes.
I have sensitive skin and use 10% from skinceuticals. At first I used it once every second day, and now I'm up to 1 or 2x per day. I do find that i need a heavier moisturizer as it's slightly drying |

Aga, unfortunately I don't know about serum, but I'm still using the Philosophy vit c powder. I'm not sure what concentration it is but it may well be less than 10%. |

Hi Misty Pines - the peach colour is correct --"dark peach" doesn't sound too good to me though.....Check inside the lid for the seal...I've used Cellex creams before and the seal sometimes gets stuck in the lid...I hope it's OK!

So I wonder,
Should I just get Vit C 5% serum for eyes and just use it on my face for a start and then turn to 10%? |

Do you think you have sensitive skin Aga? Lianne has and she can cope with 10%. Why not give it a try. Or, if you are unsure, order something else, a nice treatment or something and ask for a sample of the vit c when you place your order and try before you buy
Ive asked for samples and if they dont materialise, I will just go with which ever gets the best raves, which will be hard to determine, as Vit c crops up in alot of posts. I need a Secretary to take notes for me as Im going along |

I'd recommend the 10% unless you are fiercely sensitive...I've used Cellex C for years and just started on the Vivier...the Vivier texture is entirely different from that of Cellex C -- it's watery, but it's also got "slip"...it feels much more friendly to the skin...
Good luck!

I use the Cellular Skin Rx 12% all over my face and under my eyes, too with no problem. I don't think 12% is too high to start off with. I thought if you don't use at least 10%, you won't get results....? Also, you can purchase samples of the C serum from Cellular Skin. You have to send them an email. Not available on the website. |

Thanks for your posts girls!
It's so hard to make the "right" decisions for your skins sake lol
So basically since I have dry skin I was originally going for either
Vivier 10%
or CSRx 12%
hhhhhmmmmmmmm, what to do again... lol
