I didn't know they made a C serum. I have used a few of their products and liked them. The only one I didn't like was the abla bodywash. It made me itchy!
Here's the ingredients/claims from their website so some of the girls can disect it

What I don't like about this is the fact that (a) it does not tell you the concentration, and (b) the type of vitamin C in it is not as effective as l-ascorbic acid. I have not tried the product and I could be completely wrong, this is just my personal opinion. However, I prefer my vitamin C with a stated concentration and in a more effective form (even if it is less stable and potentially more irritating). |

I haven't any experience using it, but have been looking for this product in my city. I've read reviews on Makeupalley.com that report what Mabsy was pointing out- that the product is effective, but will never give the startling results that other concentrations do. However it is a gentler formulation that seems to cause less irritation and breakouts.
With skin like mine that leaves a permanent reminder of every blemish, it's a good trade off. |

I think its important to note that what their serum contains is vitamin c-ester. Some people who cannot tolerate vitamin c have raved about c-ester but I have found it to be far less effective. However, if you're looking for a milder version of Vit C, Avalon products are very nice. |

Wow, those are some really good reviews at Makeup Alley! I like that it doesn't have silicones in it. I break out if I use them.
I looked into this product but was concerned the it didn't have l-ascorbic acid. I was under the impression that any vit c other than l-ascorbic acid was completely ineffective, that it didn't absorb when applied topically.
Now I'm even more confused... Could it be the green tea, papaya, aloe and other great products that are making the reviewers' skin softer and more evenly toned? |

Yes, very good points Captain Lola and Katee. Ester-C sounds like a good choice for people who are too sensitive to l-ascorbic but still want to use vit C and get some of the benefits.
Lolli - I don't think l-ascorbic is the only vitamin C form that is effective but it is the most effective one. On the flipside Ester-C is less likely to irritate sensitive skins and is also more stable. |

I have the Avalon vitamin c serum. It is available at health stores. I purchased mine when on vacation in the US for about $14.00 (US$)
It is very mild and I think it would be good for sensitive skins. However it does not have the impact that other vitamin c serums have.
I have also tried LRP active C (tube packaging) I am not sure how stable it is being in a tube package. I did notice that my skin looked blotchy (more than unusal). I decided to return it to SDM as I still had the receipt. (I always keep receipts and have no qualms about returning items!)
I am currently using Neostrata vitamin C caps. They are pricer however my sensitive skin can tolerant them. It also is the c product that has made a difference. I can even use it in the eye area and it helps with the blueish circles.
I have been using this for almost a year. I believe the best everyday price is at my Loblaws store for $24.99. A package contains 30 individual capules.

BTW I also use other neostrata products including anti-redness cream and the firming eye cream. |

I am currently using the Avalon Vit. C serum
like many of you said... it is very mild and you don't get the impact of some other higher concentration Vit. C...
im wondering if anyone tried Jason's Vit C?
its about double the price of the Avalon's...
is it any good? |
