Hi, my wife is currently using a .05% tretinoin cream. She has started getting the peeling or flaking effect from it, but she's only been using it for about two weeks. She uses it every other day. Should she use it more or less often than that (ie, is it like a rogaine deal where you have to use it daily for it to work?) and will the flaking and peeling stop or taper off? I have read that once the skin acclimatizes to the cream that it should stop, but I have also read that some people always have the peeling no matter what.
Also, I am using adapalene but am about to run out. I am considering trying out my wife's tretinoin cream but I am concerned about the switch. Should I use them together and taper off the adapalene, or wait until I run out and just switch to the tret?
Thanks. |

Perhaps she should ease into it - use it every 4th day, then when no reaction, every 3rd day, then when free of negative reactions, every 2nd, then every day. Then if she wishes she could move up to a .1. This can take several months but is well worth it. No point in feeling ugly to be beautiful - plus what you are really doing is respecting the feedback your skin is giving. |

Yeah she is doing it every other night right now and has noticed a significant drop in peeling over the last several days. |

Hello there! When using Tretinoin cream, I would suggest using at night only. Also, don't forget sunscreen of at least 30 SPF.. Very important.... Please use Tretinoin cream sparingly, not too much, as too much is not good, as it will cause too much redness and over-reaction of the skin to this treatment.
