The exact name of the product and we might find an ingredient list online, or if you can post the ingredient list someone can tell you which form of A is in the cream.
Welcome |

I have a feeling it is this product; (Retinol Cream Vitamin A 100,000 IU per ounce)
http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-13333-good-n-natural-retinol-cream-vitamin-a-100000-iu-2-oz
Ingredients:
Water, Propylene Glycol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Mineral
Oil, Stearic Acid, Cetyl Esters, Triethanolamine, Isopropyl Myristate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Retinyl
Palmitate (Vitamin A), Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Fragrance, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Tocopheryl
Acetate (Vitamin E), Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Propylparaben, Yellow 10.
TEA is a nasty ingredient

I'm not surprised it's only $2.99/2oz ... |

Kassy_A,
Isn't EWG critical of nearly every ingredient? |

It doesn't sound like you have you ever been to their website and are just going on supposition or bias against them? Why would you say that?
First, their cosmetic safety database rates ingredients based on studies on their toxicity and safety. It's a rating scale, so it's not a binary system (i.e., good or bad).
If you've never been, it's worth a look to see for yourself, as the information can be very helpful.
Here's an example:
http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/703959/ZINC_OXIDE_%28sunscreen_grade_%26gt%3B_100nm%29/
with links to all kinds of useful information.
Very valuable and scientifically-minded, imo |

It seems like they're very tough critics. |

Was it the overall product ratings of the products you looked up or the individual ratings of ingredients that you think needs improvement?
Because when you say "nearly all" but listed only 3 products and said that you didn't find any with ratings of under 3, it seems like you were looking at a very small sample size.
For example, when I look up all of Aubrey's products, for example, almost half of them (~ 100 total products) receive "low" ratings.
And 28 of Aveeno's products have "low" ratings, so not nearly as good of a track record as Aubrey, but they still make some products with good ratings. |

I don't deny the possibility that there's valuable information on the site, but, as with anything else, a person has to take what they say with a critical eye. |
I totally agree with that... Personally, when I'm researching an ingredient, I go to several different sources before making a decision of whether I want to use it or not..
I do find "EWG" a very valuable source, and for sure a great starting point on my researching journey.. |

That's great (being critical of all information, regardless of the source), but only looking up 7 products mostly from not-very-progressive-companies in terms of safety of ingredients is a very small sample size. That's all I'm saying, as I don't want you to get the wrong impression and throw the baby out with the bath water. So I agree with Kassy_A's statement above. |

As I said earlier, I don't deny that there's valuable information on the site, but I also think that you have to take it with a grain of salt. |
