Hello. I am a 31 year old female who has suffered from acne on my lower face for years. When I became pregnant I could no longer use my topicals and started using Metazine gel - Niacinamide, Aloe and Witch Hazel. I noticed that niacinamide works well for taking down the inflammation of acne and reducing the post-acne marks. I did not want the witch hazel though due to the alcohol content, and also wanted to get rid of the preservatives because I just do not know their effect. I also wanted to add glucosamine to enhance the effects of the niacinamide. I admit my measuremenst may have been off but I did 50/50 distilled water with Aubreys Organics Aloe, and 4% each of niacinamide and glucosamine.
If anyone has any thoughts on this recipe I'd love to hear. It's completely watery so it's more of a toner. I noticed that after applying it feels sticky and grainy on my skin for awhile. So it made me wonder - how do we know that the powders added are small enough to penetrate the skin? It looks disolved but how can we be sure? Also, does anyone know how long this "toner" will last without any preservatives. I've been keeping it in the back of the fridge. Thanks so much! |

Where did you get your powders? Are they supplements or did they come from a supplier? Are they pure or are there fillers or caking agents?
Aloe always feels a little sticky on my skin for some reason. Like it can be rubbed off and form sticky globs like elmers glue (not that bad, but you get the picture). But if you do not get that feeling from the aloe, then it must be the nia and nag. One suggestion I can make is to dissolve the nia and nag in the water then add the aloe. You may have done it this way previously, but if not it may be something to try.
Niacinamide dissolves supper fast pure, but nag may take a little longer in my experience. Many recipes only call for 2% nag so I would try reducing the amount, maybe too much got added last time?
Either way I always make to to make things in small batches first (like 1/2 oz) gives you a while to try to before you waste a lot of $, plus I always seem to spill |
