Hi, I’m a new member and I love this forum. You all are a wealth of information. I’m pretty new to the skin care product scene so please excuse my ignorance… Smile

Anyway, I have dry sensitive skin and was using Decleor Harmonie Jour. It was great at taking out the redness and evening out my skin tone. As I am 41 years old, I thought that maybe it was time to switch to something with an AHA and an SPF. I was so thrilled to find that Decleor had both of these in their Alpha Morning product. Unfortunately though, after using Alpha Morning for about a month, my skin is definitely showing signs of redness again. My eyes are also stinging occasionally.

I do use Alpha Morning after applying the Decleor Aromanessence oil every morning. Should I not be using it everyday? Is my skin too sensitive for an AHA?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Mammamia, glycolic acid is used in the AHA products that I use and I too have had problems with it due to sensitive skin, so i switched to a more mild formula, gluconolactone. I use Neostrata, they have both glycolic and gluconolactone products. Neostrata is a cosmeceutical company as opposed to a cosmetic company. This line has been around for many years but they lack the fame of many companies because they are not cosmetics. Many doctors and dermatologists recommend this product especially because they know of their other pharmaceutical products. Also some of their other lines that can not be bought in stores are actually sold by plastic surgeons/cosmetic surgeons. Check out their web sitewww.canderm.ca The only problem is it is difficult to buy the product outside of Canada, but there are some places in the States that sell the stuff in specialty stores. If not into this try another milder type of AHA instead of what you are using. Good luck, gaffer

My new favorite AHA serum is recommended for sensitive skin. It's a lactic/glycolic acid mix (10%). Says it can be used on sensitive skin because it avoids the "spike" in AHA delivery to the skin that other AHA products allow. Something about "controlled delivery"...anyhow, you can read all about it on the cellularskinrx.com site. Look at the Age Limit serum. I'm not so sure about all the chemistry of it but I can say that I don't get the stinging feeling when I use it and it does a wonderful job of smoothing and brightening my skin. AHA's are just awesome at giving your skin that freshness and clarity that other ingredients don't seem to be able to do....
