I am quite sure this is largely due to sun exposure. I am a fair-skinned redhead and I have always used sunblock, but not as diligently (reapplying after a couple hours) as I should have and I spend about 3 hours in the car driving kids back and forth from school, etc. I am wanting to get some sort of UV blocking film for my windows...anybody got a recommendation?
Anyway, my neck has gotten really bothersome in the last year or so. I am 46. I think I have poikiloderma a little bit on the sides of my neck, and my throat is getting a funky crepey texture and I have redness around my collarbone area. It also feels like my neck skin is losing "tone" and feels like it is sagging a little. The dreaded "turkey neck"?
I say it is sun related because the "damaged" areas are well defined..the parts of my chest that are covered are as white and smooth and resilient as I could hope for.
I am currently using a variety of oils to moisturize---almond, coconut, avocado, olive, and a little jojoba. My skin on my throat doesn't feel dry, but it looks weird. I also use L-ascorbic acid DIY serum. Right now I am trying the stevia mask on my face and neck, and I have some lactic acid that I have done a few light peels with, but haven't been consistent with.
I am doing some massage and facial exercises, but I haven't been doing them as consistently as I should.
I have very little money to spend and I'd like to get the most bang for my buck.
Have I just ruined the texture of my skin? The redness is less since the temperature has cooled down (when I get hot, my chest gets very flushed), but my skin on my throat and neck, even without the redness, looks many years older than my face.
My hands and forearms are also looking much older than my face. The skin on my hands is thinning and wrinkly. |

It is too bad that you are restricted with funds. I would recommend a home laser. I have the ReAura and the neck, chest went from chicken skin to a LOT better in two months. PM me if you would like before after pics which I will send only to personal email. But dermarolling is a similar process of microdamage to stimulate collagen production and a derma roller doesn't cost very much. Fractional laser has been called electronic derma rolling. But can tell you from personal experience home laser is much faster. But derma rolling would be a good start. You will at least feel that you are beginning to address the problem.
Use the search engine to access the derma roll thread and best of luck. EDS is a great place to learn new stuff.
There are so many new modalities of correcting skin that I am sure that over time you will get the results you want if you just consistantly work on the problem and stay informed.

So, looking up about the ReAura...just in case someday I am in a better financial situation, or someone wants to buy me a really nice present, for which I'd be so grateful! LOL.
So, both ReAura and Dermaroller HURT? No pain, no gain??
Well, glad to know something gets rid of chicken skin! Thanks! |

mismis: Is ReAura laser same as Tria Laser OR Baby Quasar as far as function of improving the skin?

tnmom66: I suggest you ask a question on this forum, whether some will sell/part with their "used" ReAura if they are using too many brands doing the same job as ReAura laser?

I understand what you are going through. I think I had a disaster in that area also and it didn't help when I gained weight.
My skin was so creapy with all these lines. It looked so old!
I started using a neck cream from ReVive and that helped a lot, but if you stop using it, then the problem comes back. So, I started using Vivier Pharma vitamin C serum daily. That helped a lot, but I noticed that my skin looks dehydrated. Now, I use my facial moisturizer daily and I see improvement.
Tria is a lot cheaper and you can make small payments before it is shipped to you.
I wonder if NuFace would help keep the skin firm?
Please share what you have done, because I am very interested. I worry about the skin sagging and lines right in front of my ears. |
