I'm a 25 year old male, and since my teens I've always had blackheads on my nose, during this time i have made a few scars on my nose due to squeezing which has caused me some distress.
I was wondering if their is anything i can do about this at home like safe extraction and prevention.
Also are their any treatments that work for Blackhead pit scars? |

Welcome to EDS forum davidvilla
(in my opinion) One of the reason of having blackheads on the face (or nose in your case) is not cleaning the skin properly.
Here are some suggestions to improve your skin and further rid of formation of "new" blackheads:
-always clean your face 2x a day (one in the morning, one before bedtime) using foaming cleanser (gel or creamy type) for your skin type. Please do not use bar soap as it will always clog pores.
-always use a toner to regulate pH balance of your skin. Dap toner on cotton ball and use this to wipe your face again. This is one way you can tell if you clean your skin properly or not if there is some left-over dirt on the cotton ball once you wipe your face with it.
-Last step: Use any moisturizer suited for your skin type. This will keep your skin hydrated and improve your skin and minimize lines/wrinkes (as a preventive step to looking great too).
To remove blackheads safely, use extraction tools. Here are pictures to show you what they look like.

If you live in USA/Canada, Walmart sells extraction tools and they are located @ the nails section area...
Best way to remove blackheads safely, you will have to wash your face with warm water and foaming cleanser (to loosen the blackheads), pat dry with clean towel, put alcohol on cotton ball to sanitize areas to be treated before using an extraction tool. Using an extraction tool will not damage your skin. Also after the blackheads come out, make sure that you use Betadyne (or iodine) to "seal" the pores. This will help heal the area FASTER where you extracted the blackheads.
Another preventive measure or suggestion, use a Clarisonic brush (EDS sells this). This Clarisonic brush cleans your face better than using your hands. It is a great investment and got great reviews from members here.
Fix your blackheads first because you can do this at home.
For a more aggressive approach, consult a dermatologist to rid of scars that are deep.
Some forum members are familiar with different types of laser treatments, maybe they can suggest something..
As a precaution (for deep scars), do not do-it-yourself at home if you are not familiar with TCA peels or anything of this sort. |

Go towww.paulaschoice.com to purchase the 2% BHA in liquid form (beta hydroxy acid)and on a clean face in the evening use a cotton facial pad and apply all over the face especially where the blackheads are. You must be consistent for about a month. You will see results. This is a fantastic product! After a month or so, you can maintain your clear complexion by using it twice a week. Good luck. Look at the exfoliation video too. |
