Extensions....some people use them for thickness instead of just length. |

It may not be hair extensions. My hair has been super thick my entire life. I can't wear many barrettes as they don't fit in my hair.
A couple years ago I was helping my sister moved and she helped me tie my hair back since my hands were full. She was surprised that my hair had not thinned out like hers apparently did. Hers doesn't LOOK thin but she said it had thinned a lot. I've never had that happen and I'm almost 50. |

Blondes tend to have the most hair on their head at 140,000 and redheads the least at 90,000. I heard this on Profile America. It is a radio snippet based on information from the Census bureau. Here a link to the website but I couldn't find the information on it. Of course this is just an average. I have a red haired friend that has the thickest hair I've ever seen.

Mine is strawberry blonde but I actually have more blonde strands than red so this may explain it. |

I was just watching Kenya Moore--a 40+ woman--on YouTube today (see below). Her hair is so thick and glorious:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs8bielrsYg
Kenya said that she doesn't wear a weave. I wonder why black women's hair doesn't seem to thin as much with age. Oprah and many other black celebrities (who don't wear weaves) also have super thick natural hair. I wonder if the corkscrew pattern is a factor. I wish there was more research on this. |

Oh we do get hair thinning problems too. Hormonal changes, scalp issues, etc affect us too. That is why Chris Rock "weave checked" Oprah the day he appeared on her show to discuss the "Good Hair" documentary because he assumed she had a weave or was wearing a wig. If having hair like hers was typical for every black person, then her hair would not have been a topic of discussion after that confirmation that it was all hers on many hair forums frequented by black women.
Those of us with the tight corkscrew pattern have the advantage of our hair looking thicker in its shrunken state as the corkscrews take up more space. But also our hair has a groove along its length and the strands are flatter (more ribbon like) than the hair of other races which are more oval or cylindrical. Both these characteristics of our hair make our weaker than Caucasian or Asian hair. So it's prone to breakage, more so if it's fine. Single strand knots are also a chacteristic that is typical of our hair.
But just as with most things, anything is possible if you practice good habits. For instance, Oprah's hairdresser Andre Walker is a pro when it comes to taking care of hair and he has been in charge of hers for almost 30 years. |

Is it just me, or do they look obvious? I am thinking now that only men are taken in by this very popular -in-the-media hair style.
I'm not saying its bad to look obvious, just that I find it kind of distracting, like looking at a man in an obvious hairpiece! |

Her trainer probably comes in every day to help her work out her body, then with her facial exercise

Christie Brinkley has claimed she tried Botox and didn't like it but that doesn't mean she isn't getting other fillers. She mostly looks natural but in this interview vid from a year ago, her lower face is a little too puffed up than normal as if she's been stuffed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RbU7SqssQc
Compare that^^ with the clip in the following vid from 4 years before the one above where her face is not round but heart shaped and she has laugh lines. They show the clip at the start. Then from 0:28, the vid shows her as she was in 2011.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRuPg0CICQA
It seems her lines are lessened 3 years later!
If she hasn't had work done, then she's either using some massage gadget or doing face exercises. Fact is, she's withholding some info. Make Me Heal folks believe she's had work done:

I was thinking about this thread this morning when I was putting my barrette in my hair and it CAME APART in my hands. I guess I'm never going to need hair extensions and weaves but I also can't wear some of the prettiest barrettes. |

I don't think it's a secret that she had a facelift. She and her daughter went into the hospital at the same time. Alexa had a nose job. I wonder if they got a two for one deal with the same surgeon.
She looks good whatever she is doing.
I just checked out her hair website and I am tempted to try the sideswept fringe as it's only $24. Have to recheck what the return policy is. |

Found out there is a 15% restocking fee if you return a wig or extensions. They also must not smell of hair products. So I think I will order the sample ring first to see the colors and textures. The cost is refunded or applied to your purchase when you return it, which is good. |

She goes to the same place I do for Carboxy (she is STUNNING in person!) so I at least know she does that. I get it on my scalp to stimulate hair growth (and the rest of my body to fight cellulite and tighten skin) so perhaps that's assisting her too |

I cannot recommend carboxy enough! In the right hands with a skilled technician it is like a miracle because it helps your own body to heal. Instead of a band aid approach it gets to the root cause of dark circles, cellulite, etc. I absolutely love it and as far as office treatments go it's the most bang for your buck. I can give up pretty much anything else but carboxy! |
